[edit]

The official Main Roads (and thus state government) name for this road is "North West Coastal Highway"

Consider renaming the article and all references as such.

This article suggests either a copyvio or non encyclopediac elements - however no tag until further checks are made SatuSuro 07:36, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GA review (see here for criteria)

  1. It is reasonably well written.
    a (prose): b (MoS):
    • In the infobox, the 1,300 kilometers converts to 808 miles but in the lead it converts to 810 miles.
    • I assume "flood plane" should be changed to floodplain or flood plain.
    • In the sentence "Over a ten-year period from 1996 to 2006, numerous improvements were made to the highway – sections were widened, reconstructed, realigned; intersections and stretches through townsites were redesigned, existing bridges were strengthened, and new bridges replaced older bridges or floodways" you have a semicolon while the rest are separated by commas. This should be reworded to avoid the awkward semicolon.
  2. It is factually accurate and verifiable.
a (references): b (citations to reliable sources): c (OR):
The second paragraph of the Carnarvon to Port Hedland section of the Route description needs citations.
  3. It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects): b (focused):
    • "The vast majority of the highway is a two-lane single carriageway with a speed limit of 110 kilometres per hour (70 mph), except in and around built up areas", what is the speed limit in the built-up areas?
    • "Reports commissioned by the Royal Automobile Club of Western Australia (RAC) in 2006 and 2008 gave most of the highway a four-star safety rating out of five, but with a significant proportion rated at a three-star level.", what are the portions that are rated three stars?
    • You should mention where the Gascoyne River crossing is in relation to Carnarvon.
    • Also, you should probably indicate the highway skirts Carnarvon to the east rather than passing through it.
  4. It follows the neutral point of view policy.
    Fair representation without bias:
  5. It is stable.
    No edit wars, etc.:
  6. It is illustrated by images, where possible and appropriate.
a (images are tagged and non-free images have fair use rationales): b (appropriate use with suitable captions):
  7. Overall:
    Pass/Fail:

I will put the article on hold for a few fixes to be made. Dough4872 01:02, 5 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Dough4872: Fixes made. I adjusted the precision of the length in both the infobox and the lead, so that the infobox uses the same precision as the source, and the lead uses whole numbers so that the prose flows better. The sentence with the semicolon is now split into two sentences, and I described the portions which are rated three-star in a footnote. - Evad37 [talk] 03:29, 6 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I will now pass the article. Dough4872 03:34, 6 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Change of local government area

[edit]

The Shire of Roebourne no longer exists, and has become the City of Karratha. The local government area in the table of major intersections therefore needs amending, if anyone can work out how to do this. Skinsmoke (talk) 00:41, 8 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Tanks

[edit]

I have added some stuff about tanks - especially Number 8 Tank. I think it's interesting but it doesn't mesh well with the rest of the article. I hope someone, better at history and wording than I am, will clean it up. Gderrin (talk)
