RFC - Inclusion of opinion statement in article
[edit]I have requested comment on this article, as User:Bradbutler01 would like to implicate UNC students in the defacing of a mural of the recently deceased Kay Yow. There are several web sources on the event, including both UNC and NCSU's campus newspapers. NCSU's campus police have stated the culprit is unknown - this is backed by this link [1]. However, the NCSU student newspaper has passed what I view as an opinion off as a fact (ie, UNC students defaced the mural), despite the NCSU campus police stating they do not know who did it and will not comment. The NCSU article is here: [2]. The only statement in that article from the NCSU police is "Captain John Barnwell of Campus Police declined comment, saying issues relating to the Free Expression Tunnel are a "University issue."" Therefore, in my opinion, there is no hard proof to warrant inclusion of a statement implicating UNC in this until more facts are revealed. Thank you for your time and consideration. - The discussion between myself, User_talk:Fletch81 and User_talk:Bradbutler01 may provide more insight as to how our discussion has progressed. Fletch81 (talk) 06:56, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks to anyone who contributes an opinion here. Fletch81's description states the issue well, and our discussion includes the details. I just wanted to add one clarification here. The "old well" incident in this article is implied to be the action of NC State students or fans, but the article does not say so explicitly and does not provide any source citing its relevance to this article. The only proven relevance to the rivalry is the fact that the paint was red (NCSU's color) and that the event happened within a day of the UNC-NCSU basketball game. I view the mural defacing along the same lines: The police have not released any names and likely will not pursue the issue, as painting insulting comments in the tunnel is not illegal. However, the incident happened the night of the UNC-NCSU basketball game, a game which nearly ended in a fight between players, and much of the graffiti was painted in blue, UNC's color. I believe that the same criteria should apply to both incidents, whether this means including both or excluding both from the article. Thanks to all who weigh in on this topic. - I agree there shouldn't be a double standard. Fletch81 (talk) 21:40, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
- Every single act of vandalism doesn't have to be reported here; just sourced ones that make the point. Wikipedia is not a list of vandalism events. This article, after all, is about the rivalry, not crime/stunts/etc. Also, while it is not the job of Wikipedians to be judge and jury and decide "who done it", keep in mind that just because something is "wrong" doesn't mean it should be removed from a page, per WP:OR. We're supposed to sum up what a reliable source says, not question the truth behind it... unless of course there is a source that does just that. --Triadian (talk) 03:36, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
Not notable Can't see how it is. YellowMonkey (click here to vote for world cycling's #1 model!) 04:46, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
- Please do not add speculation to an article. If the police issued a statement that they suspected NCSU students, that would be permissible, but it seems they have not. Anything else is original research prohibited under WP:OR.--2008Olympianchitchat 06:40, 14 February 2009 (UTC)

[edit]I started the game results section but we have tons of work left to do. Please help if you can. — Preceding unsigned comment added by WolfHeel8283 (talk • contribs) 18:29, 12 February 2014 (UTC)
I'll try but there's a like hundred years of results to finish. Haha KentuckyBengalsAndReds (talk) 11:45, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
Wolf Heel where are you getting these UNC-State ball stats from? I can't find anything. KentuckyBengalsAndReds (talk) 11:51, 6 October 2014 (UTC)

Requested Title Change
[edit]Hey guys, I think we need to change the title of the page to either Carolina-State Rivalry or Carolina-NC State Rivalry. North Carolina nc state is never used when referring to us and Carolina. Just like it’s rare to hear NC state being called North Carolina State (always state or nc state) Carolina is always called UNC or Carolina. StateBeatCarolina (talk) 18:41, 24 August 2018 (UTC)
- Perhaps. See WP:COMMONNAME, then WP:RS. UW Dawgs (talk) 18:46, 24 August 2018 (UTC)
