A fact from this article appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the "Did you know?" column on October 1, 2015.
The text of the entry was: Did you know ... that, though the Norse-American medal depicts a Viking (pictured), it commemorates an 1825 journey?

What does "ethnic price" mean? Did you mean "ethnic pride"? — Chris Woodrich (talk) 23:32, 4 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, thanks.--Wehwalt (talk) 23:49, 4 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Norse?

[edit]

Why are we using "Norse-American" when the usual term in U.S. English is Norwegian-American? I'm a Minnesota native of (partly) Norwegian descent, and I never encountered "Norse-American" in conversation or publications. Sca (talk) 13:35, 27 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Because that is how the medal is called. Internal consistency in the article seemed called for.--Wehwalt (talk) 18:18, 27 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Full name of the medal

[edit]

It appears the proper full name is the "Norse-American Centennial medal" given that it was issued in connection with the Norse-American Centennial. I'm not sure if a page move or creating a redirect is more appropriate here. I'll defer to someone better versed in policy, but thought it should be brought to someone's attention. This is the commonly-used name. See WP:COMMONNAME.--Wehwalt (talk) 23:45, 8 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
