I would argue that this person fits a criteria for inclusion by an academic:-

"The person's research has made significant impact in their scholarly discipline, broadly construed, as demonstrated by independent reliable sources".

He has written the definitive biography of James IV, an important Scottish king, which has gone through 2 revised editions, plus an important biography of James III and some other publications. PatGallacher (talk) 12:01, 22 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Can you find a source for that? I mean, specifically that it is definitive. I've found cites to the biography and cites citing the biography but that's not the same. Otherwise, WP:BLP says that "[Contentious] material about living persons that is unsourced or poorly sourced—whether the material is negative, positive, neutral, or just questionable—should be removed immediately and without waiting for discussion." While the contentious wording is being debated, I would think it's possible for there to be a problem claiming that someone has written a number of "definitive" biographies. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 19:50, 22 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
