Article improvement

[edit]

Working with Norm I have added references/sources as per request.Johnstormzand (talk) 03:52, 21 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The inline sourcing is a big improvement.
It would be good if his year of birth is added.
While OK for a Start-class article, I don't think it's assessed as B-class yet, see WP:BIOGRAPHY#Structure for style guidelines on developing a "Good Article" biography. JGHowes talk - 17:27, 21 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sources

[edit]

I've removed some of the sources Johnstormzand added to the Norm Augustinus article. Reliable sources are needed that actually verify what the article says. It's not enough for them to be tangentially related to what is said.

I say this particularly because it's obvious that Augustinus is known for being "artistically creative" with facts. (Many of the sources state this. This newspaper article for instance). So using personal knowledge of what he has said, or written, about himself should be treated as unreliable. Indeed, some of what I fixed on the article consisted of exaggerations well beyond what the sources supported. Escape Orbit (Talk) 11:25, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Norm Augustinus has requested that you delete his wiki page immediately. Additionally, he has passed on things you are asking for to his attorney. You asked for proof of his mothers stillbirth. You don't accept that's he was born in Detroit. It appears you want a birth certificate. You want proof of where his grandfather is from, how he got to America? These are all unacceptable and unethical. Do you ask other wiki page people for proof of his mothers stillbirth? His email is [redacted]. Remove it now. He will be writing you also. What's more concerning is you think it's ok for random, unknown people to publish details about people's birth, without any evidence or verifying that it's true.--Escape Orbit (Talk) 14:03, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The Norm Augustinus Carnegie Medal is mentioned In this Jewish News Article (Norm is Jewish), and it also talks about his best-selling books: https://www.thejewishnews.com/archives/crossing-the-line-fence-encroaches-on-jewish-graves-in-chesterfield/article_9cd3f1bb-9d95-5ce7-9359-2ed5ee7bb912.html Audreyanngreen (talk) 20:00, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Well, assuming it's true he was nominated, he apparently didn't make the cut to actually get the award, AFAICS at [1]. Since apparently anyone can nominate someone (and there are some 800 nominations per year [2]) it's really meaningless. EEng 20:54, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately that website (The Jewish News) is not available to readers from Europe, so I have no way of seeing what it says. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 14:12, 13 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
