Birthday
[edit]Putting Noodle's birthday as 1991 is an error. It's never been stated when she was born. Seeing as how she was officially stated to be '10' in the first Gorillaz biography, released in 2000, but is now officially 14, the idea that one can infer her birth year from her age is clearly wrong. ~ Masked Avenger
Dude, she was born October 31, 1990 therefore making her 20 today. --User:RejectFalseIcons2323
Actually, I was scanning this article a bit ago, and saw that there was an e-mail sent out saying that she had a birthday on Halloween, and I did the math and Noodle will be 20 this Halloween(of 2010). Even so, it doesn't say that anymore I don't think. Did a quick scan and didn't see it. 76.119.172.57 (talk) 01:02, 26 May 2010 (UTC) Anonymous(don't have an account)
Noodle is a fictional character and so doesn't have a birthday, therefore if the article is to mention any speculation on her age then it should be mentioned within the facts of the story rather than that of real life. The true birthday of the character is less of when she was "born" within the story, but rather conceived by the artist that worked on her.
When you go to the Gorillaz' website, there is a profile about Noodle, and it indicates her birthday to be on October 31st, 1991. Soundcheckgirl (talk) 00:07, 24 December 2010 (UTC)soundcheckgirl

Merge
[edit]Really ought to merge this into the Gorillaz entry...

[edit]If the interview's legit, shouldn't it be kept on the page since it tells her real name? D4S 18:18, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
- Exactly, D4S. I was the user who added that on there. Fiolexgirl44 00:17, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
Ender's Shadow reference?
[edit]I was just reading about how Noodle was a secret Japanese government experiment and was the sole survivor of the 23 super soldiers created, the rest of whom were destroyed as a coverup of the experiments. Lately, I've been reading some books from the Ender's Game series (namely the Shadow series,) and I couldn't help but notice the connection. The character of Bean was the result of some illegal genetic experiments and one of 23 infants created in the lab and also the sole survivor. Coincidence?--Foot Dragoon 06:58, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah Foot Dragoon. Maybe you should add that on Noodle's page. Fiolexgirl44 00:18, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

Noodle's a dead girl, miss 'er miss 'er?
[edit]Anyone else seeing parallels to the whole John's death thing with the Beatles? What with the image of three pairs of legs and then a fourth seperate and distinct... You know?--The Sporadic Update 05:32, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
- You mean Paul's death. Anyway, RIP, Sweet Noodle.Oh wait, There was a Youtube video about noodle in the song "All Alone".--168.13.191.66 15:49, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
- No, Noodle didn't die! In the El Mañana video it may look like she dies, but the book "Rise Of The Ogre" tells us it was all staged and she actually jumped out in a parachute. Evilhamster95 15:14, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

Transmission transcript change
[edit]I swapped the old transcript for the Rise of the Ogre version in the Epilogue. Is that ok with everyone? --Gerkinman TNG 16:33, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
- Gerkinman, I saw an interview where I heared Muds say "I agree with Tasumi here." so that could be her name. I have no clue about her last name though. Fiolexgirl44 00:22, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
Noodle's MySpace
[edit]A couple of people have found her MySpace on Murdoc's computer a while back.
"Slowboat to Hades" conspiracy
[edit]- Also, with the recent destruction of the Kong Studios lobby, and the add of the Slowboat to Hades clip, at the ending it shows three pairs of legs, suggesting that Noodle may possibly be dead. Although if you look closely in the back, you can see part of a fourth leg and the legs all the way to the right, you can see Noodle sitting.
I appreciate the idea, but that's a part of the actual box art, where Noodle was actually sitting towards the front. The legs placed to the far right were actually Russel's. --Rexy 13:46, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
- Rexy,you should add that on Noodle's page as a reference. Fiolexgirl44 00:05, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

Birthday
[edit]Can anyone cite her birthday? There's no reason to put an exact date AND "late '91." D4S 19:19, 13 January 2007 (UTC) Well she was born in the year of the Monkey so she was probally born somewhere between 2/4/92 to 2/22/93 so I'm guessing she could be born on 2/25/92.Fiolexgirl44 00:25, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

Direct quote or transcription?
[edit]The article mentions some distress transmission and then quotes it as follows:
Murdoc!!!!! Russel... Is anybody there??!!! It's me, Noodle...... Is there anybody there!!!! You need to reply...... Helllloooo!!! Come In..... It's Noodle ... I've found the missing...... they're coming!!!! ..... (quieter) the reception here is really terrible ... (Back to normal volume) MURDOC!!!!!! ...... Murdoc, you got to get the combin..!!!! Come in!!!! They know where you......... Mur ....You must get out! .... It's coming from BENEATH the building! You have to get out! .......... Murdoc, hurry before it's too late. MAYDAY ...MAYDAY ... Murdoc!!!!! COME IN GORILLAZZZZ!!!!!
What I'm wondering is if this is a direct quote from a written source (i.e. Rise of the Ogre, which I haven't read) or if the editor just listened to it and wrote it down. Because if it's the latter, then we could do away with all the excessive exclaimation points and all-caps, as that's probably not an encyclopedic way to quote someone. I'm guessing it is in fact a direct quote, but I'm asking here on the off chance it isn't since the article wasn't explicitly clear to me about it.--Foot Dragoon 02:17, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
Its the direct source, I copied it out of the book exactly as it was :) (I'm Gerkinman TNG BTW, didn't bother logging in) 86.22.118.27 10:06, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
Mistakes
[edit]These are the mistakes that I found while cleaning up the page. The mistakes are striked out. There's probally a lot more.
- 1= What restaurant?
At age 10, Noodle arrived on the Gorillaz' doorstep in a FedEx crate, in response to the ad they placed for a guitarist in the NME. She could not speak any English beyond the word "Noodle", thus earning her the name. She quickly settled in, and was accepted as the fourth member of the band.
In November 2003, Noodle went back to Japan to find out the truth about her past. Upon her return to Japan, Noodle regained her memory after hearing the code-phrase 'ocean bacon' at a restaurant*1. There she coincidentally met with her creator/mentor, Mr. Kyuzo, who was working as the head chef in the restaurant, who explained the memories she had regained. It turned out that she was one of the test subjects in a secret government super soldier project. As a result, she is a master of all weapons, but her speciality is guitar. Out of the 23 children created for the project, Noodle was the only one to survive; the others were all destroyed by the government. Mr. Kyuzo had smuggled her to safety in England after reading the aforementioned ad placed by the other three Gorillaz members in the NME. The other two code-words (one to erase her memory and the other to turn her into a frenzied killing machine) are known only to Noodle and, presumably, Mr. Kyuzo, though Murdoc has a very keen interest in finding out what they are. Fiolexgirl44 00:40, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
- Its tattooing it has was created with it is thus not a tattooing nor unje human girl but it is a supersoldier. -Unsigned
Nudoru vs. Noodle
[edit]I'm going to swap this back to Noodle, not only because Nudoru is just an Engrished-up version of Noodle, but because it doesn't conform with the rest of the article. Also, the name didn't come with her from Japan, she was named Noodle because that was the only English word she knew. TJohnson 06:59, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
Real name
[edit]The name "Noodle" Is the only thing we Officially have. Although many people Use the Surnames of her voice actors or even singers, such as "Nagano" From the Vocalist of Little Dragon, they have appeared in songs such as, "Empire ants".
Purple hair?
[edit]Noodle's hair isn't purple. It was just given a purple tint in part 2 because the art got more detailed, and that apparently was the light reflecting off of it that made it look purple. Noodle2D23 (talk) 19:01, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
Well she could have dyed her hair like the Japanese are commonly known to do. — Preceding unsigned comment added by RejectFalseIcons2323 (talk • contribs) 12:28, 6 April 2011 (UTC)
Handedness
[edit]The article mentions that Noodle is seen holding a guitar neck in her left hand, which implies that she is right handed, but has been seen with a pen in her left hand, which implies that she's ambidextrous. I would ignore the idea that the guitar implies her to be right-handed, since many left-handed guitarists learn how to play right-handed. Not only is it much easier to find an instructor to teach how to play right-handed, but right-handed guitars are much less expensive then left-handed guitars. If Noodles is writing with her left hand, I doubt it really matter if she plays right-handed. --Sdragon1984 (Note: Does personal experience add any validity to this?) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.175.154.145 (talk) 00:35, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

Noodle alive
[edit]As seen in some fan photos, of real Gorillaz art, Noodle has been seen alive, either with a cat mask, or without it, in a bathing suit, and in japanese cat customes. Wether these are dream drawings of her, or not, I wanna include this detail in here. If she's dead altogether, I can, or any can, change and edit the page again.
unsigned comment added by 98.118.10.92 (talk) 11:40, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
Some of those photos are practice drawings Jamie has done while others are probably real, such as the snip-shot of her in the the noodle ident commercial. The one of her in the bathing suit I'm not sure what that one was. The one of her in a cat costume in the bathing suit with 2-D hasn't been verified either. But the ones of her in cat costumes on Russel seems to be very real as they were in magazines. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.144.155.96 (talk) 14:11, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

Dare vs. There
[edit]Has anybody heard any rumors that Dare was supposed to be there? I'd read in Rise Of The Ogre how Shaun Ryder was telling the Gorillaz to turn up the volume with his headphones on, so he was saying as they did so "It's coming up... It's coming up... it's coming up.. It's There!" so they used it for the chorus. Another one was in a youtube video exploring Kong Studios, if you pause it, you see a neon sign that says "It's There". Yet in the song, it's clearly "Dare". Any debates? ~ Anonymous(no account) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.119.172.57 (talk) 01:13, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
Its his accent, I cant remember the actual accent it is called but he is saying THERE, but it sounds like DARE, so the sound was named Dare as a joke of his accent and how it sounds like DARE instead of there. Rise of the Ogres explanation was the virtual sides reason and isn't the actual reason although that did happen in recording. Cyborg
[edit]Does anyone else notice that we are constantly switching between "it" and "her"/”she” when describing the Cyborg? It should be change to reflect one or the other, the official material must addresses the matter, use that. 71.184.227.2 (talk) 15:12, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
Ok, so just so you know, Cyborg Noodle and Noodle are completely different beings. Noodle went missing after the El Manana video causing Murdoc to replace her with a robotic clone. Real Noodle's whereabouts were last seen in the "On Melancholy Hill" video. You can tell the difference between them because Cyborg Noodle is 3D animation whilst real Noodle is traditional 2D animation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by RejectFalseIcons2323 (talk • contribs) 12:32, 6 April 2011 (UTC)
Meloncholy Hill face
[edit]The article describes her face under the mask, but at what point in the video is her face shown? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.56.214.197 (talk) 16:16, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
It is not actually the video where under her face is shown, it is from multiple drawings Jamie has done showing her face without the mask on, I'll edit it to clarify it is not shown in the video. Dobat 17:55, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
- And where are these drawings found?--Count Mall (talk) 19:55, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
Did Noodle Die?
[edit]I know the El Manana Conspiracy and everything, so don't anyone immediately respond to with that. It appears to me (though I may be wrong) that Murdoc recently said Noodle did/may have died in El Manana and that was how she ended up in hell. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.77.61.10 (talk) 02:50, 30 September 2010 (UTC)
She's not dead, Murdoc made a cyborg out of DNA found at the crash site of the windmill, what exactly happened to her is -completely- unknown to most everyone with all of the confusion going around but it seems to be that she went to hell and somehow got out. And now she's all out and about. But yes she's alive if you watch On Melancholy Hill. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dobat (talk • contribs) 14:03, 30 September 2010 (UTC)
I know she's out of Hell now, but I was saying, it seemed to me that she did indeed die in El Manana, ended up in Hell, then escaped. That's what I got from some articles and the broadcast anyway...... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.77.61.10 (talk) 03:53, 2 October 2010 (UTC)
Nope, especially if you check the recent Rhinestone Eyes storyboard she is very much alive. User:Dobat Dobat the Hobbat 17:37, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
I know she is alive now, but the question was, did she die in El Manana. The NEW(ish) Pirate Radio broadcasts state that Murdoc did not rescue Noodle from the crash. She also ended up in hell shortly afterwards. Is there anymore evidence to suggest Noodle really did die in El Manana, get sent to Hell, then Escape and come back to life? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.77.61.10 (talk) 03:17, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
Nobody really knows what happened during the crash, I suppose we'll have to wait or guess she somehow escaped or died, she has a burn mark which could be from hell or the crash. User:Dobat Dobat the Hobbat 13:05, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
Mask from Melancholy Hill
[edit]The mask from Melancholy Hill is inconsistently described as either a butterfly mask or a cat mask. I'm pretty sure that's a cat mask (my sister has one). Not a super-important detail, but if we're going for accuracy... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dgbrownnt (talk • contribs) 08:51, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

Noodle (musician) → Noodle (Gorillaz) – The topic is a fictional character presented as part of the real musical act Gorillaz. Noodles (musician) and Noodles (band) also exist. It's a bit confusing to have a fictional member of an actual musical act to begin with, and with the musical context of the term already multiply populated, it is much clearer to disambiguate this topic with "Gorillaz". Cyborg Noodle
[edit]Maybe the article could have a section about Cyborg Noodle so that the main page link to Cyborg Noodle could redirect straight into that section. As it is, it's very confusing that the band has a member called Noodle, and a former member called Cyborg Noodle, and the Cyborg Noodle link just redirects to Noodle.88.113.110.174 (talk) 23:04, 9 February 2015 (UTC)

Constant "pregnancy" vandalism
[edit]I just want to say that the whole "Noodle is pregnant" is not canon as part of the Gorillaz storyline but it's a disgusting fanfic that people started in 2006 (when she's supposedly 15 or 16 years old at the time as a character) and 2D was the father, don't rely on fanfics to be truthful, only rely on Damon Albarn to confirm if Noodle is pregnant Thomasthedarkenguine (talk) 06:37, 23 October 2021 (UTC)
Proposed merge of Noodle (Gorillaz) into Gorillaz with
[edit]- The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
- The result of this discussion was consensus to merge. Strong consensus to merge. scope_creepTalk 09:30, 19 September 2023 (UTC)
Discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Murdoc Niccals seems to indicate a consensus to merge these characters in the main article block at Gorillaz. scope_creepTalk 13:39, 8 September 2023 (UTC)
- Support: I am not seeing anything that satisfies the general notability guideline. There are sources, but the best ones tend to be interviews and press releases. There is a doctoral thesis that contains a significant discussion of her, but I did not find much else. One source is not sufficient, and a doctoral thesis might be questioned as a source that contributes to a subject's notability. ―Susmuffin Talk 17:02, 8 September 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose The Gorillaz article is already lengthy, at 144,000 bytes. It doesn't nead five articles worth of content merged into it. Seperate articles make reading easier, especially on mobile where an increasingly large number of people access Wikipedia. Garuda3 (talk) 17:47, 8 September 2023 (UTC)
- Support per my arguments in past AfD, which TL;DR boil down to "this fails GNG". Size concerns can be addressed by summarizing trivial fictional plot summary details and cutting down (not merging) lenghty unreferenced chunks of 'personality' or 'Physical appearance' likewise trivial details which really are just WP:FANCRUFT/OR. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 04:21, 9 September 2023 (UTC)
- Support: Most of the references in the article are primary sources, the rest are either coverage of the band as a whole or trivial mentions. FlotillaFlotsam (talk) 23:52, 12 September 2023 (UTC)
- Support per arguments presented by FlotillaFlotsam and Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus. The overlength can be handled by judicious editing; TBH the lead gets across most of the notable, salient stuff. BoomboxTestarossa (talk) 09:19, 13 September 2023 (UTC)
- Comment - Note that the title of this discussion thread is backwards. The proposals at the AfD discussions have been to merge the character articles into the main group article. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 17:13, 14 September 2023 (UTC)
- Doh. You are correct and I think nobody is confused... hopefully. But this should be changed in the heading and everyone who voted, pinged. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 08:27, 15 September 2023 (UTC)
- @Doomsdayer: I created it and didn't even notice is wrong. Thanks for pointing it out. I will change it now. scope_creepTalk 11:41, 15 September 2023 (UTC)
- Comment @Susmuffin:, @Piotrus:, @BoomboxTestarossa:@FlotillaFlotsam:, @Garuda3: The heading states the merge is for Gorillaz into Noodle but its actually Noodle into Gorillaz, but I'm assuming everybody already knows that. I've changed the header to correct it. scope_creepTalk 11:47, 15 September 2023 (UTC)
- Good catch all! I didn't even read the title... Regarding the argument itself, the lack of any real counter-argument beyond concerns about the length of the Gorillaz page both here and in the AfD for Murdo reaffirms my belief that the merge should go ahead, as despite the typical terrifying DeviantArt stuff you get for any female cartoon character there doesn't seem to be any more notable coverage for Noodles than any of the others. And by 'merge' I would honestly suggest adding maybe 2-3 sentences to Gorillaz#Virtual members, which could then be used as a redirect title. If more notable genuine secondary sources emerge discussing the characters in detail rather than just effectively being plot summaries of promotional material, we can always do individual articles then; as it stands there's not much worth salvaging. BoomboxTestarossa (talk) 11:57, 15 September 2023 (UTC)
