Publication date

[edit]

All claims of a 19th-century publication date seem to rely on one claim in one source, an unspecific one (no publisher for the nonet given, etc). Several other sources claim the work was still in manuscript as late as 1903 (Kronseder's Lachner biography and worklist published in that year, for example). Now an arrangement was made of the work by Richard Strauss in the 1880s (though possibly from manuscript, and not itself perhaps published until posthumously perhaps. A search reveals (that I can tell...) no publications earlier than 1993. I will replace the date soon unless better evidence for the 1875 date is found... (A nonet by Lachner was, it is true, published before then, in 1955 by Hofmeister, but some library-catalog-investigation and reading shows that that one is a different nonet by Lachner, his even less-known - but quite real - 1833 brass nonet in A-flat. He was prolific enough :). Yes, I was fooled too.) Schissel | Sound the Note! 14:43, 21 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
