[edit]Could someone please write an intro for ordinary humans, explaining what it's about. Nonadmitted insurance and line insurance aren't explained. There aren't any links in the intro, so there's no way to find out without leaving wikipedia. Please fix. 99.11.160.111 (talk) 10:19, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
-- I tried to address it on 10/2/19. Does that help at all? FoolishSophist (talk) 20:29, 2 October 2019 (UTC)
- There is no nonadmitted insurance article on Wikipedia. Perhaps there should be. Oblivy (talk) 03:11, 20 March 2023 (UTC)
Needs significant revision/reorganization/fact-checking
[edit]I tried my best, but someone with more specific expertise (I'm a generalist who writes in order to understand) ought to check my work. Thanks! FoolishSophist (talk) 20:29, 2 October 2019 (UTC)
RFC - merge some, re-scope the rest as nonadmitted and surplus lines
[edit]Having looked at this article again, as well as coverage of overlapping articles, I'm not sure this article is up to standards. To put it mildly, it's a slurry of cut-and-paste from the US/state laws and original research. In its current state I'm not sure it would survive an AfD proposal (and I'm not about to make one).
I have a more radical proposal:
- merge discussion of NRRA into the Dodd-Frank article (as needed; it's already mentioned there)
- re-scope and rename this article as a discussion of nonadmitted and surplus lines (can save some of the definitional material, and cut down SLIMPACT and NIMA)
There are some secondary materials out there, but the statutory text copy/paraphrasing is so extensive that it really needs a rewrite.
The proposed re-scoped article could focus on unauthorized insurance as well, as this is far from a US-only phenomenon.
Any comments would be appreciated. Oblivy (talk) 07:16, 20 March 2023 (UTC)
