Steeplechase
[edit]The information given here about the first proper steeplechase being organised at Nomansland in 1830 doesn't correlate with the facts given in Steeplechase. Several sites state that races were run at Nomansland in 1829 - http://www.thrale.com/nomansland, http://www.hertfordshire-genealogy.co.uk/data/places/places-n/no-mans-land.htm (but they're not necessarily reliable sources) - but it's not entirely clear whether these really were (or included) a steeplechase. Steeplechase states that the 1830 race was organised by Thomas Coleman but was held in Bedfordshire. Are there any reliable sources which can provide evidence for what actually happened? --David Edgar (talk) 12:00, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
Glaciation
[edit]Geological maps do show valley gravel, possibly of glacial origin, but I question the veracity of the statement that this was formed during the Last glacial period, as the ice sheet did not extend this far south. Evidence for this claim would be useful. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.9.74.113 (talk) 12:37, 3 June 2012 (UTC)
