Page move

[edit]

Should we move this page to Nolito instead of Manuel Agudo Durán as he is commonly known as Nolito and I never heard of him being called Manuel Agudo Durán. Mr.Kennedy1 talk 10:28, 4 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Andalusia

[edit]

I had added the Autonomous Comunity (Andalusia) where he is born. I believe it is important to know if Gareth Bale is from Derry, Inverness or Plymouth, not only that he is from the U.K. In the same way I think is important to know where Sanlúcar is (99% of English speakers worldwide won't have a clue wether he is Catalan, Basque or Andalusian). Therefore I add it again. Ibn Gabirol (talk) 10:28, 18 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I reverted your edit before reading this, still, it isn't necessary to display the location in detail as you did. People reading the article can click on Sanlúcar de Barrameda in infobox or read the Barcelona section in club career: "Born in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Cádiz, Andalusia". Also, there isn't any other city with the same name. SLBedit (talk) 12:21, 18 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

In that case, under Gareth Bale you should have : Cardiff, U.K., and people can click on Cardiff to see where it is... (by the way, with Gareth Bale it says: "Cardiff, Wales", and it doesn't mention G.Britain, which, in my opinion, should. What applies to one, applies to the other, so, and I hope you agree now, I'm introducing it again. Ibn Gabirol (talk) 13:55, 18 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I do not agree. Cardiff is a city in the country of Wales. Sanlúcar de Barrameda is a city in the country of Spain. Both articles display "City, Country". Also, you are overlinking. SLBedit (talk) 16:02, 18 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I would second @SLBedit: on this one. The comparison to Gareth Bale is irrelevant, Wales is a country recognised by, among others, FIFA and UEFA. Andalusia is a region of Spain. A much better comparison to make would simply be with other Spanish players and the quick majority I have checked would agree with the current version e.g. Xavi does not have Catalonia in his infobox. It is more than adequate to mention any Andalusian heritage elsewhere the article. Kosack (talk) 16:49, 18 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Excuse me but United Kingdom is the nation, as Spain is the nation, Andalusia as, any other of the 17 other Autonomous Comunities in Spain are far more more independent than Wales or Scotland inside the U.K. I think you don't know the politics and social situation in Spain, beyond the British Pubs in Torremolinos, but I won't discuss it... UEFA is no official organism to see if a country is independent or not, by the way.. Whatever... Ibn Gabirol (talk) 13:18, 20 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Ibn Gabirol No personal attacks. You can't assume these people are British through them speaking English and to think that British people only know of the Costa del Sol is absolute bullshit. We are writing about FOOTBALL here, if we only go by "what countries are independent" then we may as well deleted the article "Wales national football team". Plus, an infobox does not need such clutter, just city + country, explain anything more in the biography section. '''tAD''' (talk) 13:28, 20 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Wales and Andalusia are very different in how they are recognised so the comparison is pointless was my point. Considering we're talking about a footballers infobox, then UEFA is a pretty handy source I would have thought. You're right that I don't know an awful lot about Spain, I've never been there let alone to the "British pubs in Torremolinos", however the fact remains that Andalusia is not a recognised nation and is not independent of Spain. Until it is, then it should remain out of the infobox. Thanks. Kosack (talk) 16:33, 20 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I apologize, I didn't intend to attack anyone at all. I was just saying (and I know both Wales and Andalusia) that both of them are part of another nation (U.K./Spain), and that if in Bale's biography was written "Cardiff, Wales" I couldn't understand why "Sanlúcar, Andalusia, Spain" was not allowed. I didn't mean (at all) that Andalusia was an indepentent part of Spain or that it should be. It is just seemed to me important (as a connoisseur of the social situation in Spain) to precise from which part he is in Spain. My apologies again if my comments offended anyone, who I encourage to get to know Torremolinos' (Málaga) pubs where more than 50,000 British live. Ibn Gabirol (talk) 21:51, 26 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the offer, which I would take if it were not that I will be busy working in Extremadura, having specifically chosen a place where nobody will be speaking English. But to each their own and if someone wants a British pub, so be it '''tAD''' (talk) 22:05, 26 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
