[edit]Symbian OS on this smartphone is 9.x something for N80, check is from official Symbian pages or Nokia pages - I don't have time. It's definitely something like 9.1 - OS with large improvement to security, posibility of handling hard drivers and is optimised for 3G(not like N70). Also a new KERNEL is in progress, so there is real difference between N70,N71,Nwhatever(with 8.1) a a new N80 with Symbian 9.1 OS. Also the GUI got better look.
Expandable Memory
[edit]Nokia have moved away from the RS-MMC memory cards. The N80 will be equipped with a miniSD card slot up to 2GB in size
Actually Nokia moved away from mini-sd to micro-sd cards. And actualy most nokias only supports SD cards (limited to 4gb) up to 2gb and doesn't support SDHC. It's a firmware/software issue it has nothing to do with hardware. Nokia could solve this problem if they wanted to. Most recent nokias have SDHC support and nokia states that they can support 4gb. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.39.91.251 (talk) 13:26, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
Actually that's not true. It's an hardware issue. check the SDHC article in wikipedia it explains that. And btw, N80 it's limited to 2GB SD. 4GB SD (not SDHC) can only be achieved my a mod. Nokia states the maximum memory at the time of the release, they make tests. For example, N95 is expandable to 8gb micro sdhc, although it works with 16gb but there wasn't any 16gb sdhc available to the public at the time of the n95 release.__-_-_-__ 18:47, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
SimpleCenter
[edit]Due to SimpleCenter being the only one "third party application with Nokia N80 support" mentioned i think.. it's a SPAM!!!!
There are hundreds of third party soft out there, simplecenter aint the only one. I wanna hear anyone's input.. i am considering removing SimpleCenter being mentioned in article. Robert 21:50, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
- I agree, and I've removed the entire section. It's just a request for adverts... Wibbble 19:15, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
Internet Edition
[edit]I've removed the unreferenced section about upgrading the normal N80 to the IE. Something should go in eventually, as this upgrade will be eventually supported by Nokia (at which point there'll be something easy to cite as a reference). Wibbble 20:49, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
Firmware flashing illegal?
[edit]I noticed in the section under upgrading the flash of the regulat N80 to N80IE that it says it is illegal. I cannot find any information on this. I am not going to hastily change it; however, I think that in order for that comment to stay it will need a reference.
I'm pretty certain that it's not illegal in many countries, so I'm going to update the statement to something less committal and leave the citation request there. (apologies for no indent: I don't know how)Flamsmark 05:57, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
Flashinhg, debrand, unlock and firmware are different things
Excessive review links
[edit]I think that this article has more than enough review links already - I propose that any new reviews (useful to show more balanced viewpoints, for example) would have to replace an existing one. Wikipedia is not just a collection of links (per WP:EL), and I don't think we need to store every review for this (or any other) handset. Wibbble 20:08, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
