RAF or RCAF?
[edit]Hello, [from Gavbadger to Buckshot06, copied from Buckshot06 talk page]
I've just come across No. 8 Air Observers School RAF and nothing in their makes any sense to me and according to the page history you edited it last.
The only 8 AOS RAF i know of formed at RAF Evanton on 3 September 1939 then became No. 8 Bombing Gunnery School RAF on 1 November 1939. REF: Alan Lake: Flying units of the RAF (1999) PG. 21.

- This article was part of a large flock of BCATP schools in Canada, set up by a user who believed we could label things 'No. 8 Air Observers School BCATP', as if the BCATP was an independent air force. I searched out to try and figure out what was going on, and found one school (might have been No. 31 Air Navigation School RAF) that was on the List of Royal Air Force schools if I remember correctly. Believing on that basis that all of these units were RAF, I moved them to xx Air Observer School RAF etc. Does your reference library extend to RCAF as well as RAF units and formations? If so, maybe we can get this nailed down - if they are all RCAF. Regards Buckshot06 (talk) 07:39, 13 June 2020 (UTC)
- The only Canadian units i have information for is 31 to 33 Air Navigation Schools and a limited number of First World War Canadian Reserve and Training Squadrons. The website referenced looks very amateurish and i couldn't find any mention to the unit. Only to the name No. 3 Training Command. Nothing else. I'd suggest the article be deleted. - I have gone back to the page cited, which I did check at the time I did the moves. The BCATP schools have disappeared, yes; clearly that page has been revised. Buckshot06 (talk) 01:19, 14 June 2020 (UTC)
- Buckshot06. Where does the article go from here? It's clearly showing incorrect information. What would be the best way to fix/delete it? Gavbadger (talk) 21:16, 1 July 2020 (UTC)
- Gavbadger (a) go back to the sources cited, salvage what information can be cited, and add that information to either RCAF Eastern Air Command, BCATP-in-Canada articles or Royal Canadian Air Force; (b) nominate the article for deletion citing WP:TNT. Buckshot06 (talk) 02:04, 2 July 2020 (UTC)
