Sqn vs Flt
[edit]What is the difference between a Flight and a Squadron? Is it simply a matter of formation size? Bastie 15:28, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
- Unfortunately the info on 1435 Squadron is irrelevent to this article other than it was formed from 1435 Flight, which is the title of this article. Someone could always start a 1435 Squadron article, any takers?Petebutt (talk) 15:50, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
- A 1435 Squadron article existed, but has been deleted. It may also be that the present article originated from the original 1435 Squadron article--Dirk P Broer (talk) 13:43, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
A squadron, depending on it's mission, can consist of from 8 to 24 aircraft. A flight normally consists of four aircraft.
- There is no hard and fast rule, but generally six or less aircraft are usuallly formed into a Flight.
1439 flt. does not have any aircraft permanently assigned to them, it's Tornado F.3's are rotated in from different squadrons with thier crews. 71.29.88.179 13:43, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
- The aircraft stay there till they are due Minor servicings, approx 500 flying hours depending on aircraft, when they are either flown back to the UK, or taken back by ship or An-124.
Firstly it is 1435 flt. not 1439 flt. Secondly it does have permanent aircraft. Also i was wondering; I thought that desperation was made up when the phantoms came as there were only 3 original planes (faith, hope and charity)? 194.105.160.77 18:56, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
- If you'd worked on Phantoms you'd know why!Petebutt (talk) 15:50, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
It looks as if the replacement Typhoon FGR.4s have now arrived in the Falklands; they left the UK on 12th September; so this article will need to be updated as soon as there is an official announcement. 86.6.85.183 04:39, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Raftornadof3b.jpg
[edit]Image:Raftornadof3b.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Eurofighter Typhoon conversion
[edit]Ive added the changed to the article because the Typhoon has replaced the Tornado. 77.97.171.33 (talk) 17:28, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
- Great, thanks for the update. If this is true though why does the opening of the article still list the flght's aircraft as the Tornada F3? Shouldn't this also be changed as well? "the primary component of which is No.1435 Flight, with its four Tornado F3s providing air defence." —Preceding unsigned comment added by Antarctic-adventurer (talk • contribs) 07:50, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
