reference

[edit]

The article has two references, plus an external link to the author's web page (which, according to the WP:Biographies of living persons, counts as a reliable source for biographical information), as well as several other external links. This is quite a reasonable number of references-- in fact, given the brevity of the article, the list of references, bibliography, and external links is longer than the actual text. Since it seems unreasonable to call this unreferenced, I deleted the unreferenced tag. Geoffrey.landis (talk) 03:05, 15 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nnedi Okorafor-Mbachu -> Nnedi Okorafor

[edit]

In tidying things up I see that some Wikipedia editors are changing all references to Nnedi Okorafor-Mbachu to Nnedi Okorafor. I understand the desire for a newly divorced person to scrub all references to her ex out of existence. However, Nnedi Okorafor had books published, and won awards, as Nnedi Okorafor-Mbachu. Those should not be changed retroactively to say she wrote the books and won awards as Nnedi Okorafor. If one of her Nnedi Okorafor-Mbachu books is reprinted as by Nnedi Okorafor then that fact can be noted but the original edition(s) were by Nnedi Okorafor-Mbachu. --Marc Kupper|talk 18:25, 8 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Upcoming books

[edit]

I have removed the following upcoming books from the biography

Young Adult - writing as Nnedi Okorafor
Adult

It appears the only source for these predictions is the author herself via web site and blog announcements. None of them are appearing on the publisher's web sites, Amazon, etc. Thus the predictions are running into both WP:RS and WP:CRYSTAL issues. Once the publisher announces its planned publication of a book and adds a record for it to Amazon then WP:RS would be satisfied (reliable 3rd party source). Technically WP:CRYSTAL would still apply though my personal experience is that once the publisher announces and posts to Amazon (meaning they have assigned an ISBN) that they nearly always follow through with publication. --Marc Kupper|talk 19:03, 8 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Paralysis

[edit]

I was reading http://www.nebulaawards.com/index.php/interview/nnedi_okorafor_mbachu/ and from what Nnedi Okorafor states in that interview paralysis is an important part of her background. To quote "My experience with paralysis IS why I started writing." I have not read her books nor looked at other sources to see if paralysis is a common theme. Would other editors more familiar with the author agree that something about paralysis be added to the article? --Marc Kupper|talk 19:15, 8 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
