OTC Status
[edit]I don't think that Axid is still produced for OTC sales. It looks like production ceased in June 2006. I don't feel qualified to change the page, so I didn't. RBobicus 18:52, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
- It's not uncommon for an OTC drug to become unavailable in some places, but Axid-Ar is still available for purchase online. 68.214.70.176 (talk) 13:24, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
Off-label usage
[edit]Some mention of the various off-label uses should be added. The most notable is the use of nizatidine to control/supress appetite. I know of two studies that look at nizatidine for controlling weight gain associated with olazapine and quetiapine. There are a few reports of people suffering from extrapyramidal symptoms after taking large doses of nizatidine and in at least one case it resolved after treatment was stopped.
