I've removed the section stating that Dr. Wijeyeratne was low-country and that he 'challenged' the 'Kandyan Radala hierarchy' for the position of DN. Apart from the fact that his family lived in the vicinity of Utuwankande for a considerable time prior to his birth (thus making his technically at least up-country), his mother was up-country. Furthermore his wife was Kandyan and Radala.

Beyond that I believe references to social groups such as the Kandyan Radala 'hierarchy' should be backed with solid sociological evidence. Where is this hierarchy, who is a part of it, and how did it monopolise the position? None of these issues are addressed.

Let's not inflate the memory of a remarkable and dignified individual with assertions, fallacies, and the forwarding of various contemporary agendas. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.53.94.9 (talk) 22:13, 3 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
