Massacre section

[edit]

Section has no references nor validated sources and reads like an opinion piece. Requires rewriting with sources referenced. Has no links to 2023 Hamas - Israel war. 140.228.32.52 (talk) 04:01, 12 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Nir Oz massacre

[edit]

Please help expand the three line section at Nir Oz#2023 Israel–Hamas war and make it into a full article about the Nir Oz massacre: "according to one report, 240 of the community's 400 residents were either missing or confirmed dead." Thank you, IZAK (talk) 03:13, 13 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Text starting "According to one report..." almost always contains misinformation. It must be replaced when a proper count is made, which should be soon. Zerotalk 04:23, 13 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Of course. But in the absence of official reports, the best we can do is summarize the conflicting accounts. I was trying to itemize the casualties but that was reverted, so "according to one account" and "according to this other guy" is what we're left with. jengod (talk) 04:27, 13 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
And the list of victims is contrary to WP:NOTMEMORIAL, which is policy. So adding to that is a waste of time as it will be deleted sooner or later. Zerotalk 06:13, 13 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

History section

[edit]

The history section should go back further than the 1950s, otherwise it reads as ideological. What is the history of the land in the first part of the 20th century and earlier? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 31.124.79.85 (talk) 16:21, 20 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

According to Salman Abu Sitta's, "Mapping my return", Nir Oz (together with Nirim, Ein HaShlosha and Magen), was built on Abu Sitta's land. Unfortunately, Walid Khalidi does not cover this area, but can we use this information, somehow? Huldra (talk) 22:50, 28 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Huldra Yes I think you can just cite Sitta. Now, I can't promise that there won't be debates about "Is Sitta even a reliable source?!" but those debates can be processed by the community in due course. But if it's in a published book with a page number, I would definitely go for it. jengod (talk) 22:59, 28 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@User:Jengod  Done, Huldra (talk) 23:17, 28 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
👍 Another project is...does this place have (a pre-1949?) name in Palestinian Arabic? If we can find a reliable source we could add that too, since we have the Hebrew etc. jengod (talk) 23:52, 28 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
