"a community"

[edit]

@Gerda Arendt: Could you explain a bit what the "community" in "Weber wrote his text in the first person plural, a community" means? I was just doing some small copyedits and didn't really follow. Does it mean the hymn is supposed to be sung by the community? Sdrqaz (talk) 01:30, 25 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

English isn't my first language, so you can probably word it better. There are hymns talking in the first person singular, the individual singer, and others - like this one - plural, a "we". Congregation? - I thought as this is 2009, that was too formal. People united in belief, sharing something? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 05:35, 25 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm. I've tried to make it clearer. Hopefully that works. Sdrqaz (talk) 23:34, 25 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
