Geostationary?

[edit]

If the satellites are always at the same bearing from the earth, shouldn't they be geostationary and not just geosynchronous? TheHYPO 01:34, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, if a satellite appears to an observer on Earth to be always in exactly the same direction, its orbit is geostationary. Is this the case for the Nimiq sats, or do they appear to move at all? Is there a citable source for this information? (Note not all comsats are in geostationary orbits. See e.g. Tundra orbit.) (sdsds - talk) 02:35, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It's a satellite dish TV satellite - unless you have to go outside and move your satellite dish every 6 hours, it should be stationary; note that all of the satellites have a set longitude given in the expressvu article. TheHYPO 03:14, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
