Replacing the D2H and D2Xs?
[edit]The article states that "The D3 is the top model in Nikon's line, superseding both the D2Xs and D2H". I have read that this is primarily and photojournalist/sports photographer camera replacing the D2H, and a high res studio camera (probably called "D3X") is due next year to replace the D2Xs. They are discontinuing the D2H and are not discontinuing the D2Xs. Also, the D3, when in DX mode, is only a 5.1 MP camera, unlike the D2Xs which is a 12 MP DX camera. --rogerd 17:23, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
- Hmm, well I think that if Nikon had wanted this to be mainly the high-speed flagship camera, it would have been called the D3H. Also, full frame doesn't much benifit sports shooters because it forces one to use longer and slower lenses. I also feel the DX mode is a bit of a gimmick. I mean, If you can spend $6000 on a camera body, you don't want to get bad results because of cheap lenses. You might be right, but I would wait a few days until the hype slows a bit. -Fcb981(talk:contribs) 03:09, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
- Well, at the moment it's superseding the D2Xs and D2Hs, that will change when the D3x is out. But OTOH its such a major step for Nikon (FX sensor) that they deceided not to add a letter like H. Just like they did with the D1 once.

Audience section
[edit]I did some editing of the "Audience" section. The grammar was horrible; it's still not very cohesive and may be trying to be too technical for its own good? 69.249.98.184 14:58, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
Vertical grip
[edit]The discussion of the vertical grip seems completely irrelevant to anything. Anyone disagree with removing it? Micahmedia (talk) 07:31, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
Memory buffer upgrade
[edit]If anyone knows more about it, there should be a discussion of the memory buffer upgrade Why for example does doubling the memory result is more than double (from 28 to 68) the number of shots in NEF (RAW) (12-bit lossless compressed mode FX mode, but no increase at all in small JPGs (it remains at 130). I suspect this is related to the fact that small files can be shited to main memory at a rate close to the maximum frame rate of the camera, but much larger files can't be transfered as quickly. But a more detailed explanation would be useful. MightyBig (talk) 16:24, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
- The artile states the upgrade would expand the camera's memory to "2GB". However, I cannot find any reliable source for this. Nikon itself does not seem to mention the actual amount of memory in their announcement, so, where does this number come from? If this is not coming from a reliable source, but from someone who snapped up something somewhere, can we be sure that "2GB" really means 2 Gigabyte here? I'm asking, because on circuit diagram level (service manual), memory chip capacities are usually given in bits, rather than bytes (for example "1G DDR2 SDRAM" is not 1 GiB, but 128 MiB). So, while this may be interesting information for the techies, if we don't find a good source for this, we should better remove the "2GB" bit, IMHO.-- 84.63.52.9 (talk) 19:53, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
