Alright I will be picking up the review of this one - both for the Wiki Cup and the GA cup as well. I usually provide updates to my feedback over a day or so, I will indicate once I am completly done with my review, you are more than welcome to start making improvements before the review is completed.
Side note, I would love some input on a Featured List candidate (Mexican National Light Heavyweight Championship) and a Featured Article candidate (CMLL World Heavyweight Championship). I am not asking for Quid pro Quo, but all help is appreciated. MPJ-US 11:43, 18 March 2016 (UTC)
GA Toolbox
[edit]I like to get this checked out first, I have found issues using this that has led to quick fails so it's important this passes muster.
- Peer review tool
- According to the manual of style measurements should not be plural, so "lbs" should be "lb"
- All measurements are in U.S. , please use a conversion template to also give a metric version. it's okay to be in U.S. units first but we should also include metric.
- Copyright violations Tool
- The only real overlap is terms such as "Texas Class 5A Defensive Player of the Year", which is only natural for an article like this
- Disambiguation links
- No isues
- External links
- Referne 4 is dead, needs to be addressed
Well Written
[edit]- I am not familiar with football terms but should "second team" be "second-team" and so forth?
- I think the comment on his suspension should include the fact that it was never announced why he was suspended, just to clarify that the article is not trying to hide something.
- "Ravens, but" does not need the comma*
- The sentence in parenthetis " (he had previously played during the fourth quarter of the Giant's final preseason game)" should be rewritten and actually mentioned earlier so it's a chronological mention.
- Sentence starting "On December 23, 2015" is backwards, how about stating he was injured during the game, THEN that he was placed on injured reserve afterwards?
- "phonebook" should be "phone book"
Sources/verifiable
[edit]- "An opposing team's coach called him the best defensive player he had seen at the high school level." - since that is basically a quote it needs a reference right after it, and it would be better to make it a direct quote to ensure that it's clear that it's one guy's opinion on Whitlock.
- His "College statistics" table seems to be totally unsourced.
- Cincy Jungle andBig Blue View references should list "SB Nation" as the publisher
- All references that link to a website should have an accessdate listed, even if you click on them today to check they are appropriate for the citation and then list today's date.
- Some sources list dates as "May 30, 2013" and other use "14 September 2015". They should all have the same format, I have no preference which way you go though.
Broad in coverage
[edit]- It is definitely a "football player" profile. I would move the peronal life up first and use that to actually introduce the subject to the reader - right now it basically leds the lead act as part of the article. The lead should summarize the article, but not be treated as part of the mail article Think of it as a trailer, it introduces the movie, but when you go see your movie you don't have to have seen the trailer for the movie to make sense. In this case I would move the personal life section up and give some background on birthdate, location etc. then go to the football career.
Neutral
[edit]- Seems to be, if I find issues during my second read through I will update this section with my final verdict when I am done with the entire review.
Stable
[edit]- Very short history, nothing jumps out at me as unstable
Illustrated / Images
[edit]- None - I know it can be difficult to get a free-use image of some people and the "non-free" options would not apply to Whitlock I think. This is not a deal breaker or GA.
@Ringerfan23: - I have completed my review, not a ton of issues but it's also a pretty short article as Whitlock is early in his career in the NFL. So I am going to put the review on hold to allow you to address the issues. I will put in on hold for 7 days, if you are working on it in 7 days I can easily extend that period of time, although if no work has taken place by March 25 I will have to close the review. MPJ-US 14:02, 18 March 2016 (UTC)
@Ringerfan23: - I saw updates done on the 18th, the day of the review itself, but nothing since then. I don't know if you believe you've completed all updates or not, please let me know where you're at with this. Since work has gone on I am not failing it just yet even though it's been six days. MPJ-US 00:24, 25 March 2016 (UTC)
- Should be done now.RF23 (talk) 13:36, 25 March 2016 (UTC)
- @Ringerfan23: - CHecked it over, looks good to me. Giving in the Good Article stamp of approval. MPJ-US 00:47, 26 March 2016 (UTC)
IR terminology
[edit]This acronym needs explaining. Is this relating to injury reserve or injury report? Also, this needs a reference on the Wikipedia IR disambiguation page.Dogru144 (talk) 01:52, 10 December 2016 (UTC)
