Texas writing credits

This song is very near & dear to my heart, I played it in a band in Pittsburgh in the late 70's, and it was always a favorite both of the crowd as well as myself. And yes, I was the fiddle player and singer. So when I just saw the writing credits here noted as Daniels & Nelson, my first thought was could it possibly have been Willie Nelson? I couldn't believe that I wouldn't have known that after all these years. So I started looking around, and I found a single different writing credit on a lyrics-type site, of Charlie and someone else whose last name wasn't Nelson. I think it may have been Edwards, but I can't remember. However, most other references just credited Charlie, including the closing credits of the movie Urban Cowboy (not too definitive) and a scan of the writing credits from the Nightrider CD itself (pretty definitive). Edit: I found a scan of the actual 45 single. The label is Kama Sutra, date 1976, the reference number is KA-607-N(KA-607-A)and the writing credit is clearly indicated as Charlie Daniels (totally definitive?).

Further, I did find a song written by Willie Nelson called Texas and it was a completely different song. His lyrics begin "Listen to my song, and if you want to sing along...". Charlie's Texas starts with "There's a place not too far away from here...". So, I think the written by credit needs to be removed, pending any references that can show that anyone else co-wrote Texas with Charlie.
