Fair use rationale for Image:Xmen80.jpg
Image:Xmen80.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

True nationality
I accept that Nightcrawler's German, alright.
But his UXN Glossary mentions that he's actually Austrian.
Is it correct? If so, where was it stated? AND if so, can it be changed in the article?Omdfg (talk) 01:11, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

LoSH
Is there a reference for the claim that Nightcrawler was originally going to be a Legion of Superheroes character for DC? I remember several sources state that he was originally going to be a DC character, but I seem to recall Nightcrawler featuring in promotional artwork for the team The Outsiders, not the LoSH. Jayunderscorezero 14:08, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
Outsides only came around in 1983, nearly 10 years after Nightcrawler's first appearance in Marvel, so I think you may misremember. Dave Cockrum, his creator, had a long run on Legion of Superheroes, but Nightcrawler was rejected by DC editors (as claimed here: http://www.collectortimes.com/2002_11/License.html and here: http://www.bamfcentral.com/index.asp?page=http://www.bamfcentral.com/nc_creation.asp)) I'm trying to find an official source (Cockrum himself would be best), but I've seen the story in so many different places over the years, that I believe it to be true. Dizzy D 19:49, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
- Brian Cronin at Comics Should Be Good, now a feature of comicbookresources.com, says that Cockrum admits that Nightcrawler was intended for LOSH.[1] In discussing that Colossus was not likewise intended, Cronin cites a TwoMorrows interview.--Chris Griswold 20:02, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
- Okay, you make some very good points, I'm convinced. ALthough I'm certain about that art featuring him as part of a team called 'The Outsiders'. I know the real outsiders came later, but I remember this team being entirely different, nothing to do with Batman and the rest at all.Jayunderscorezero 15:42, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
- Ah, found that image I was on about. Check out: http://www.nightcrawler.coolfreepage.com/ Jayunderscorezero 15:43, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
- I stand corrected. Brian Cronin also talked about this in today's Comic Book Urban Legends. Dizzy D 12:22, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
- Again? --Chris Griswold 18:23, 21 July 2006 (UTC)

- the previous one was about Colossus not being intended for the LOSH, but a new character, with the Nightcrawler bit on the talk-page. THis one was about Nightcrawler not being intended for the LOSH, but for its spin-off The Outsiders. Dizzy D 20:51, 23 July 2006 (UTC)
- When Cockrum was working on LOSH, he had plans for a new team set in the Legion time (a spin-off if you will). That team would be The Outsiders, with Nightcrawler, looking identical to how he appeared in X-Men, as a member. When Cockrum left DC, the Outsiders plan was scrapped and Nightcrawler became an X-Man. More than a decade later, DC would use the Outsiders name for a new team lead by Batman.
- This story is confirmed in "Comics Creators on X-Men" in an interview between Tom DeFalco and Dave Cockrum. Published by Titan Books, May 2006. ISBN: 978-1845761738 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.53.238.237 (talk) 23:46, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:Crawlerbamf.jpg
The image Image:Crawlerbamf.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
- That this article is linked to from the image description page.

Normal Skin disguise
For the first few seconds of Nightcrawler's appearance, he had normal skin, as I remember it. It couldn't of been fake because of his angelic symbols showing. Should this be noted? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.37.228.139 (talk) 23:46, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
