Motivation

[edit]

I’m curious to know some background on this. What was Macmillian’s motivation for firing the ministers? Cherry Cotton (talk) 17:30, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Panic. The Conservatives were floundering in the opinion polls, had had bad results in both the Orpington by-election (losing a safe seat to the Liberals on a huge swing) and the local elections, and Macmillan was trying to get a lot of new faces in (he also sacked eight junior ministers) to revitalise the government. A note on the motivation should really be inserted into this article. Zangar (talk) 00:19, 3 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
How does this compare to Teresa May's 'slightly drastic' cabinet reshuffle? 193.132.104.10 (talk) 17:01, 22 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Undiscussed page move

[edit]

@Quellenbrunnen: I appreciate your thinking in moving the page to 1962 British cabinet reshuffle, but the page has been at this title since its creation 18 years ago. You shove open a move discussion here to establish a consensus for such a major change. ——Serial 12:09, 14 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
