Temporary block?

[edit]

Perhaps we should consider a new user and IP block if the vandalism persists as it has be the last couple of days. Thoughts? Agreed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.25.171.2 (talk) 16:15, 21 May 2008 (UTC) -Adun 14:20, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism

[edit]

Whoever put OJ Simpson on the Nigger (disambiguation) is obviously trolling. I will remove it and make sure all your changes are checked and revised as necessary... have a nice day!

NY movie industry

[edit]

A "Nigger" was a large light blocking panel that stood on the floor and was roughly the size of a man. The term was used by stage mechanics, which includes "grips" and "gaffers".Longinus876 (talk) 13:11, 3 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Overuse

[edit]

Too many articles are listed here. this should be for subjects that are either called "nigger" or a variant, or are commonly known by the single word or variant.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 01:19, 11 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sawmills

[edit]

A device called a nigger is used in sawmills to turn heavy logs. Here's an example: http://www.google.com/patents/about/2542191_TRAVELING_NIGGER_FOR_SAWMILLS.html?id=QAhEAAAAEBAJ

I'm surprised that there's no mention of this device anywhere on Wikipedia. 173.196.183.131 (talk) 08:33, 22 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Clawfinger

[edit]

It can refer to the anti-racist song "Nigger" by the Swedish band Clawfinger http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clawfinger

Steam nigger

While references have been added, the bigger problem hasn't been addressed: there is no mention of this term at the target-article, "sawmill". Therefore, nothing is being disambiguated. This serves to confuse, rather than aide, readers, who will click on the link and find no information. In order to remain listed here, either material about the subject will need to be incorporated into the "sawmill" article, or an article on the subject itself will need to be created. Meh, I'll try to integrate it into the sawmill article whenever I can, but it is undeniable fact that this thing was being referred to as "the nigger" when discussing sawmills 150 years ago. ☺ · Salvidrim! ·  06:02, 22 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not arguing that. I remember when Brazil nuts were called "nigger toes", and a slingshot was a "nigger shooter" (usually quite innocently, by people who didn't fully grasp the harm that word caused); that doesn't mean those terms belong on this page. A disambiguation page isn't for "undeniable facts", it's an aide to guide readers to the correct article. If it isn't discussed in the target-article, including it here does more harm than good. "Nigger toes"

[edit]

Actually, this antiquated name for Brazil nuts is discussed and referenced at the target-article. I'm considering adding it to this page; I think we should be judicious with additions here, so I'd like to seek input first. Joefromrandb (talk) 07:14, 23 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
