Gay Icon Project

[edit]

In my effort to merge the now-deleted list from the article Gay icon to the Gay icons category, I have added this page to the category. I engaged in this effort as a "human script", adding everyone from the list to the category, bypassing the fact-checking stage. That is what I am relying on you to do. Please check the article Gay icon and make a judgment as to whether this person or group fits the category. By distributing this task from the regular editors of one article to the regular editors of several articles, I believe that the task of fact-checking this information can be expedited. Thank you very much. Philwelch 22:13, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC)

philwelch,WHY do you put the above paragraph on every single female actress-singers page? Nicollette Sheridan is not a gay icon. I'm so tired of seeing this on every discussion page.--72.154.223.249 (talk) 00:16, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Telly Savalas

[edit]

Nicolette Sheridan is related to Telly Savalas; Telly Savals is Jennifer Aniston's godfather. Does this connection merit mention? --McDogm 19:08, 16 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

It's really not clear from the narrative what, if any, relationship there is between Nicolette Sheridan and Telly Savalas. All it says - as of 11/10/2008 - is that Telly Savalas is Nicolette's mother's ex-boyfriend and that she "considers" him her father. Is there an implication that he is, in fact, her father? I didn't think that Wikipedia dealt in rumor. And if Telly is not her father, then how is his son Nicolette's half-brother?MarkieAA (talk) 02:01, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article fails to make clear if there is any possibility that Telly Savalas was her father. However, I think it unlikely, due to the fact that her mother was living in the UK at the time, whilst Savalas was living in the USA. Telly Savalas' son Nick and Nicollette Sheridan have the same mother, which makes them half-blood siblings (assuming they have different fathers). Nietzsche 2 (talk) 16:35, 21 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Savalas timeline doesn't compute. The article mentions the following: "In 1972, her mother was working alongside American-Greek actor Telly Savalas on the James Bond film On Her Majesty's Secret Service." In fact, principal photography on OHMSS started in 1968 and wrapped in 1969. Perhaps they met on the set of another movie? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bbefilms (talkcontribs) 15:32, 2 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Owens-sheridan-skit.jpg

[edit]

Image:Owens-sheridan-skit.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Citizenship

[edit]

Does she have British Citizenship, American, or both? If she has US citizenship, when did she acquire it? Nietzsche 2 (talk) 16:42, 21 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Birthplace

The infobox states Worthing, the early life section states Rustington - which is true? Nietzsche 2 (talk) 16:45, 21 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

She is of indian decent from her PATERNAL side..it was wrongly maternal. I have since changed it Surag198 (talk) 23:01, 9 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

British-born American? What is that? She is British but has acquired US citizenship, surely. Becoming a citizen of a new country does not negate nationality at birth. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.157.64.144 (talk) 12:49, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Too much material on lawsuit

[edit]

This article currently has way too much detail about her lawsuit against Marc Cherry: more than we have against her career, which is unjustified given that she's best known as an actor, not for suing somebody. Wikipedia isn't a gossip magazine and doesn't need to cover 'celebrity scandal' stories in such depth. WP:BLP policy requires that articles about living people should be fairly balanced and shouldn't focus on their negatives. In the Marc Cherry article, the section on the lawsuit is only three brief paragraphs: this one should be cut back to the same length. Robofish (talk) 21:31, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The problem is that Cherry wasn't as central to the lawsuit as Sheridan was because it was her lawsuit. Halfway through the trial, Cherry was no longer a defendent and since then it's just been Sheridan's case against ABC Television. I do think it could do with some trimming as there is an excess of detail in there, but I don't think it provides an unbalanced view in any way and it is the thing she has become most famous for in recent years (and bear in mind that Sheridan herself is the one who is keeping it going). 88.104.28.129 (talk) 16:33, 29 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The section on the lawsuit no longer makes sense when too much material is edited out of it. I've just read the section to read: "Sheridan was the first to take the stand, and was instructed to "calm down" by the judge after an angry outburst towards Cherry's lawyer on 2 March 2012.[1] A new trial based solely on Sheridan's claim that ABC retaliated against her for complaining about working conditions was set for 2 December 2013..." Obviously, this misses out the most relevant aspects of the trial (particularly that it ended in mistrial) and various other pertinent details of her case. I've restored the necessary details but editors need to take more care when editing articles or such carelessness can be construed as vandalism. 88.104.30.249 (talk) 11:53, 3 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Her ethnicity

[edit]

I previously saw her ethnicity mentioned, as well as her linage to India, her great-grandmother on her mother's side was of Punjabi Indian descent. Now there's nothing. Don't know if people think it's important enough. Here are sources.
