Did he refuse to carry out the execution? Date of his death?
[edit]I believe the plaque at the Hotel Inglaterra in Havana says he refused to carry out the order to execute the students but the article in the Spanish Wikipedia and its sources only say that he protested the execution when he heard about it by breaking his sabre and saying that it was wrong and "before my country come humanity and justice" and for that reason left the army.
On the other hand all sources give the date of his death as 21 August 1914 so I do not know why it has been changed from that date to the 19. GS3 (talk) 11:45, 6 August 2014 (UTC)
I now have a photo of the plaque and it says he protested the execution, not that he refused to do it, so I am correcting the article. GS3 (talk) 21:19, 2 December 2014 (UTC)
