Goals and apperances
[edit]The infobox should only have games and goals in LEAGUE play. Since it says 3 games 1 goal, that would be incorrect as the league cup isnt in the league. ~~alexedi —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.128.235.59 (talk) 21:41, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:NicklasBendtner.jpg
[edit]Image:NicklasBendtner.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Transfer speculation
[edit]I read the newspaper avidly. It is my one form of continuous fiction
Transfer rumours are rumours - just that. While they can be reported in Wikipedia articles with citations, they should be reported for what they are - nothing more than speculation, and until anything is confirmed by club or player, Wikipedia should refrain from analysis such as "A move to x is likely", which breaches WP:OR and WP:CRYSTAL. Additionally, there is no need for multiple citation if all the sources are ultimately copying from the same article. Qwghlm (talk) 14:38, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

Youth career
[edit]Based on these dates, Bendtner was 4 when he joined Tårnby Boldklub. That can't be right. --BDD (talk) 14:30, 1 October 2011 (UTC)
- Why not? there are plenty of sports clubs that take kids of that age... Maybe a little OTT to include a kids' club in a player's youth "career", but Mr Bendtner lists it on his website, so he must consider it to be part of his football development. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 15:00, 1 October 2011 (UTC)

Please add title and nickname "Lord Bendtner" Source: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2997176/Lord-Bendtner-Former-Arsenal-striker-s-nickname-reality.html Maxhjarttwitter (talk) 19:04, 23 March 2015 (UTC)
- No, that should never have been done. 1: Daily Mail is not a reliable source, or even close to it. 2: Nicknames conjured by online trolls shouldn't go anywhere near an encyclopaedia article, much less in the lead. I've undone it. Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 17:45, 28 March 2015 (UTC)
- Good I see you have started a discussion, I processed the edit request so we know where I stand, lets see what develops. If others feel that the reference is not up to speed then it can be removed or a better source found. Mlpearc (open channel) 18:52, 28 March 2015 (UTC)
- The Daily Mail is NEVER a reliable source for anything other than hard facts about that organization (and even that is dubious at times). Also, since when was including nicknames coined by internet trolls a good idea? Your grasp of WP:BLP, and willingness to treat Wikipedia as if it were some fan Wiki, is depressing. Even if the Daily Mail were a reliable source, then we still wouldn't include the nickname where you placed it. Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 18:54, 28 March 2015 (UTC)
- As to the reliability of the Daily Mail, a trawl of WP:RS/N would suggest we should try and do better where BLPs are concerned. As to the particular item, I wouldn't object to its inclusion with clear context in the personal life section, i.e. so long as it was made clear that this was an internet nickname and a Danish magazine with an interesting approach to BLP violations had bought this square foot of land to make the nickname in some way true. Including it in the opening sentence as if it's some sort of genuine honorific is ridiculous, and the quote from Mr Bendtner's agent in the Mail piece is telling: "Nicklas thinks it's a fun gimmick"... If we want to report tabloid gimmicks based on social-media silliness, then fine, but report them as such, not as something that encyclopedia readers might mistakenly think bears some relation to reality. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 20:47, 28 March 2015 (UTC)
- That's a much better way of putting it than I am capable of right now, thanks for doing so. I hold my hands up and apologize for overreacting, but I take a very dim view of anyone who puts content sourced to the Daily Mail into articles, then reverts to put it back in (particularly whilst misquoting policy in the process). Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 20:56, 28 March 2015 (UTC)
- That was my error, I thought the opening is where that type of content went, I was just working a edit request that looked acceptable, I also got a little miff't at such a fast revert. Struway2 solution sounds fine to me. My apologizes @Lukeno94:, hope you both have a great day :) Mlpearc (open channel) 21:46, 28 March 2015 (UTC)

Nicklas Bendtner (Lord Bendtner) was not voted Danish football player of the year in 2009, Simon Kjær was. Source is in danish but should not be too hard to understand, årets fodboldspiller means Football player of the year. Source: [1] Even the wikipedia source for Danish football player of the year shows Simon Kjær as the winner, source: [2] Small change but quite significant.KrølleBølle (talk) 09:38, 23 November 2015 (UTC)
References
- Not done: @KrølleBølle: This took a bit of reading, and other editors may want to comment. A word of warning, the Danish article da:Årets Fodboldspiller i Danmark and even more so its English counterpart Danish Football Player of the Year are not very precise.
- The old award Årets Fodboldspiller has been awarded since 1961.
- Since 1989 it has been awarded by da:Spillerforeningen (no article in English, "The Association of (Football) Players).
- Between 1989 and 1993 there was however two prices by the same name, one awarded by Spillerforeningen the other by Det fri Aktuelt.
- From 1994 and onwards there was one price.
- That is until 2006 when Danish Football Association (DBU) decided to establish their own price which rightfully is called Årets Spiller and handed out at the Dansk Fodbold Award.
- So, yes and no: Bendtner was not voted Danish Football Player of the Year in 2009 by Spillerforeningen, he was voted Årets Spiller (Player of the Year) by DBU. Here is a book citation about it: Kurt Lassen (8 May 2012). Big Bendtner: En biografi om Nicklas Bendtner (in Danish). ArtPeople. pp. 87–. ISBN 978-87-7137-026-3.. Source: Stolpe Ind football podcast. Nicolas Bendtner states his height is 198 and says wikipedia is wrong.
15 minutes in. https://podcasts.apple.com/dk/podcast/stolpe-ind/id1653138467?i=1000585152019 SimonSHDK (talk) 08:51, 7 November 2022 (UTC)
- Not done: The thing is, Wikipedia goes by what reliable published sources say, and I can't find any published source, reliable or otherwise, that puts his height at more than 1.94m. See e.g. FIFA World Cup 2010, 1.94, Danish Football Association, 1.93, VfL Wolfsburg 2016, 1.94, Rosenborg BK 2018, 1.93..... If the clubs he played for had been systematically getting his height wrong, he could easily have pointed it out to them. I don't think something he said on a podcast can reasonably override the consensus at 1.93/1.94 among WP:RS and the apparent absence of any published suggestion that he's taller than that. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 12:07, 7 November 2022 (UTC)
Minor correction
[edit]Under: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicklas_Bendtner#Copenhagen
It says: "He scored his only goal in a cup tie against FC Nordsjælland on 31 October 2019."
This is incorrect. He scored to tie the game 1-1. The game ended 4-1. So it's not a "cup tie" :)
One source is: https://www.fck.dk/en/kamp/31-10-19/fc-kobenhavn-fc-nordsjaelland Pabluest (talk) 18:03, 31 March 2023 (UTC)
- It's an English-language issue. The article mostly uses British English, and "cup tie" is Brit for "cup game" or "cup match". American English uses "tie" for a match in which both teams score the same number of goals; Brits use "draw". For clarity, I've changed it to cup game. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 19:05, 31 March 2023 (UTC)
