Improving article and sources

[edit]

I came across this article having read about the subject in the newspapers. It has had a WP:WWIN tag since 2021; WP:NotResume. I presume no editor has been able to improve due to the lack of available sources. The main problem at the moment is that there appears to be virtually no verifiable content at all, other than what might enable a stub (i.e. the subject is a member the UK's House of Lords and is presently - for another week or so? - a UK government junior minister). Some of the content has been inserted with no citation, and other content appears to be historical; such possible historical content, however, does not appear to be verifiable according to the links provided as they do not now mention the subject at all. I have tried to find alternative sources but cannot as they do in any case seem quite minor. My instinct is that this article should be reduced to a stub and then editors can enter new content as and when it becomes available. I will leave this comment here for a few days to see if any other editors have thoughts. In the meantime, I will make a couple of minor edits to improve in a small way and make a note of those below. I've edited the lead to remove unverified/unverifiable content and insert relevant citations.Emmentalist (talk) 06:42, 24 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I've now amended the lead to correct tense following change of government in UK. I've also removed the "Early Life" section in its entirely as there are no sources and nor can I find any elsewhere. If any editor wishes to have a go at finding sources, the information I've edited out can be found at the edit history of course. I will apply the same principles to the rest of the article section by section. I think it's best to do it this way to enable other editors a few days between each edit to revert or to re-insert material should they be able to find sources. I've put the main body reference to a CBE decoration into the lead and removed the Work and Pension department section, which was out of date and had no references. The relevant appointment is mentioned in passing in the lead and that seems sufficient now. I will leave it another couple of days before another edit to allow other editors to take a view on the edits to date if they wish. I'm aware I'm deleting a fair amount as I go and want to ensure such deletion is not contentious in any way. Emmentalist (talk) 11:40, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
