Title of article

Why is the article title Nick Adenhart? Instead why don't we change the article title to Nicholas Adenhart, and then redirect Nick Adenhart to Nicholas Adenhart? Griffinofwales (talk) 18:27, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

WP:NC and in particular Wikipedia:Naming conventions (people)#Nicknames, pen names, stage_names, cognomens state to use the common name. AFAIK he was known in the baseball world as Nick. Appropriate?

Would it be appropriate to add a "See also" section with a link to Lyman Bostock? Bostock had just turned his career around with the Angels in 1978 when his life was cut short.

Consider this a plea. As long as Adenhart is still listed on the team roster, we keep him listed on the team roster. As of this moment, he is asterisked on the 40-man roster, indicating that he is not on the Active Roster, but he is listed as being on the active 25-man roster. I don't know if there is any formal provision for roster transactions involving deceased persons, but his player page on the official site is listed as "Deceased," while the other 24 are listed as "Active." Presumably, the Angels will be permitted to simply activate a player out of their farm system without "formally" designating a replacement, as they technically have only 24 active players, but they have not yet formally decided who will join the team. They have at least a week to decide, if they want, given that Adenhart had just pitched, and they have an off day later this week, so they may simply stay as a 24 man team for a few days, with a four-man rotation. It would be rather difficult, to say the least, for whoever gets the call-up from the minors to be "the guy who replaced Adenhart." I'd not be entirely shocked if, to avoid that, they demote someone and simultaneously promote two others, just to avoid having a specific "Nick Replacement." 75.84.10.82 (talk) 18:39, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

Does anyone remember how it happened with Darryl Kile? I presume they'll go with 24 players for a couple of days as a sign of respect, but they'll replace him on the roster by the time they need a new starter to take his place in the rotation, as you suggested, and they may do a multiple player transaction, or they may not. My point is simply that he's still on the 40 man roster, whether or not he's on the 25 man roster, and we should keep him listed there until the Angels make the official transaction. In this regard, this is the same as when we had to wait for about a month for the Yankees to announce the Teixeira signing: it may be happening, but it's not official until it's official. --Muboshgu (talk) 20:03, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

The Angels called up Reggie Willits today to take Nick's spot on the 25-man roster, but they still list Nick on the active roster. The active roster just has 26 guys on it instead of 25. I haven't heard any official word on this, but I think that as a remembrance to Nick they might leave him on the active roster for the rest of the season. --Idont Havaname (Talk) 22:19, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

Names of other people in accident

Is there a specific reason why the other people involved in the accident (Adenhart's friends, the other driver) aren't mentioned, when those names are a matter of public record? If there's a logical reason for not including that, please let me know. Samer (talk) 04:04, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

That doesn't apply here: WP:BLP1E covers whether these people are notable enough to have their own entries (obviously not, although if, say, this case resulted in a change in California laws, the other driver might then be notable enough). While I agree that WP:BLP1E does not strictly apply as we are not discussing creating an article for the four other involved, it is somewhat related. Excluding names of others in not entirely unprecedented as seen in the Angel's Preston Gómez article. No mention of who hit Preston is in the article. I think the difference here is that Donte Stallworth was the one at fault while Adenhart was just an innocent victim here. Either way, I don't particularly have a problem with adding all of the names, though of course, anything added for the other driver must comply with WP:BLP. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 16:20, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Featured Article on 27 July 2012

I don't mean to be insensitive, but this is an entry that doesn't merit Featured Article status in my opinion. A talented baseball player who had a vanishingly short career as a Major League player, and whose life ended tragically. I'm sorry, it might qualify for an American reality-TV show, but his life and career are not all that noteworthy. I'm disappointed that it was the Featured Article today. The writing is good, but not great. The story is sad, but not essential to an understanding of lives cut short in their prime. I'll stop short of calling it something worse, but the article doesn't deserve the accolades it's getting. JeffTracy (talk) 10:13, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

"Nick"

On Wikipedia, it is customary to include the person's nickname in quotation marks with the person's full name in the first line of the article, especially when the nickname is used in the article title. As this article uses his nickname rather than his actual name, "Nick" should appear in quotes with his full name in the first line.Rreagan007 (talk) 20:47, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

Nick isn't a nickname though, it's simply a shortened version of his name. I've looked through the MOS before but have never found anything that requires the quotes to be added, just seems to be a group of people who have to add it to all of them.
