Leaning towards support. I would say that the spelling differences between Nic(olas) Grigsby and Nicholas Grigsby are such that hatnotes are enough in this case. BegbertBiggs (talk)12:05, 23 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Comment I added hatnotes. I would agree that if the common name of each player was "Nicolas and Nicholas" that hatnotes would suffice, but the "Nic" is what complicates it for me. I still think the following should happen:
Nic Grigsby should be a disambiguation page, with Nicholas Grigsby and Nicolas Grigsby redirecting to the disambiguation page (both names are so close in spelling and people often don't know how the name is supposed to be spelt, so it isn't clear who they are searching for). Support per COMMONNAME and PRIMARYTOPIC. That is, the COMMONNAME for the American is Nicholas Grisby and he’s the primary topic for that name. Likewise, the COMMONNAME for the Canadian is Nic Grisby and he’s the primary topic for that name. No disambiguation is necessary.
