0.275% of male americans or 33,845 people? As far as I can tell it would have to be one or the other, as if it were both it would imply that America had a population of ~25 million people max. As I'm not sure which is correct, have just placed a verification needed tag next to each, hoping that the original author can correct it perhaps with a citation. Croatians, especially speakers from Zagreb, often use the name Niksa as a male and female diminutive of the name Nikola (or Nikolina). Not sure where add this.

The 'h'

[edit]

Article reads:

The customary English version of spelling "Nicholas", using an "h", is derived from one way of transliterating the diacritic on the 'o' of the original Greek word Νικόλαος.

Since when is an acute accent represented by an 'h'? --Macrakis (talk) 04:24, 3 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I traced this to an old edit from an educational-institution IP address with a history of vandalism. Unlikely and no source, so I cut it. --Macrakis (talk) 04:33, 3 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Nicholas in Dutch

[edit]

I'm a flemish person (so my native language is Dutch), and I found the variations of Nicholas for females in dutch to be quite odd. Two of them are: Klasina and/or Klazina. I had never heard of these and am 100% sure that they would not be used to give a name for a child in this day and age. I went looking for it and as it turns out these names are indeed very antiquated (which is also how they sound to my ears), being given for example as names for 12th century dutch barges. Should we remove them?

Disambiguation

[edit]

The disambiguation page concerns movies and places and might be incorporated into this page. I wanted to split the links to people into subcategories, but didn't do so correctly (subheadings in boldface tho higher headings in ordinary face). Please feel free to correct.Jweaver28 (talk) 20:02, 14 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

New articles

[edit]

I have added more than a dozen new articles to {{Nicholas}} that I am fairly certain are variations. I am not sure if Nikil or Nikitas (disambiguation) are etymologically related. Feel free to add those subjects.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 17:27, 22 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
