Did it play a part in the war?
[edit]When I contacted one of Van de Stadt’s grandchildren, he told me that his mother had mentioned that when Japan occupied the Dutch East Indies, each officer carried a copy of this Japanese-Dutch dictionary. The grandson added that his mother was probably overstating the case. I am curious though, what role the dictionary played during the occupation, and how many copies were used. Someone with a real knack for history might want to look into that. --Kornelis 13:09, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
