The external links section in this article looks really strange. First link is broken and I just don't see how the second one can be "really" related on the article. Is it because the site mentions word 'niche' in it's name? Tommi (talk) 16:44, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

I agree with the removal of the sites listed. I would however like to suggest the inclusion of a widely respected tutorial series that compliments the online niche marketing section which I believe could be expanded. Until such time as expansion does take place I think a link guiding users to further information on this topic would be useful. The site is - http://heronacademy.com/lab/niche-research/niche-research-for-beginners-part-1 - I will remove this link if there's any objection and then we can discuss the matter here./// —Preceding unsigned comment added by 180.191.115.210 (talk) 11:06, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

Regarding the link. I notice the administrators insist upon removing it as spam. I can absolutely accept that, and am happy for its removal, however please state the reason the article is spam so we can discuss it here, instead of just saying "spam" and leaving no valid reason beyond that. Until discussion is brought here I will revert the link continually. Ban me if need be, all I'm asking for is a simple discussion.180.191.145.67 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 07:20, 11 June 2011 (UTC).

Continuously reverting (ie edit warring) over a link that appears to lack any degree of consensus (demonstrated by multiple parties removing it) is likely to result in your account being blocked. Due to the clear support for its removal, the burden is on you to establish consensus before re-adding the link. Please be aware that repeated spamming of links against consensus is likely to result in accounts being blocked, and repeatedly abused links can potentially be blacklisted to prevent continued disruption.
As to the link itself, you have received references to WP:EL and WP:NOT#REPOSITORY on your talk pages. The link does not meet any of the criteria of WP:ELYES (note: the criteria for encyclopedic understanding is not the same as a how-to guide). --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 00:09, 12 June 2011 (UTC)

At best this is a link to a how-to guide. At worst it is a link to an advertisement for a business, carefully presented in a soft-sell form by putting the advertising content in the context of a how-to guide. In neither case is it in line with Wikipedia's standards for external links, and in the latter case (which I think is the better reading) it is very clearly contrary to the guideline on links to be avoided. It falls under "Links to individual web pages that primarily exist to sell products or services", even though that primary purpose is superficially masked by the inclusion of a good deal of material not directly addressing that purpose. Since four editors have removed the link, and only one has (repeatedly) added it, it is clear that consensus is against inclusion. JamesBWatson (talk) 20:32, 12 June 2011 (UTC)

  • Since the anonymous editor who started this section changes IP address and has no fixed user talk page, I will mention here that I have replied on my talk page to their latest post there. JamesBWatson (talk) 20:45, 12 June 2011 (UTC)
