- @Titus Gold, probably not in this article, I added a section to Elections in Wales. DankJae 23:34, 18 September 2023 (UTC)
Electoral system change
[edit]In the polling section it says that the constituency component is defunct and puts the regional part as the main one. This is misleading, there will only be a constituency part, what has actually changed is that there will no longer be a FPTP component. I think this should be changed to be more accurate, if someone can think of an eloquent way of wording it. LandmarkFilly54 (talk) 11:42, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
- Well the pairings of constituencies could be considered as "regions of two constituencies". Depends how you look at it. In my opinion, both the "regional" and "constituency polls" are now redundant, for a new single paired-constituency polls. Ofc, what is clear is that the constituencies used for the constituency poll are no longer used nor is FPTP, whereas regional at least covers multiple constituencies and uses list, so I guess how that can be seen as more justified. But tbh both are defunct in my opinion. DankJae 16:11, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
- I've split the new polls from the older polls that use the older system, as the pollsters themselves don't compare pre-bill and post-bill polls, so neither should we. DankJae 20:51, 4 June 2024 (UTC)
Why does AWA have own column?
[edit]Surely the Abolish the Welsh Assembly Party is the very definition of a “other” party? It has never had elected representation (apart from defectors who subsequently lost their seats). It regularly polls very low and very rarely close to qualifying for seats. Including an AWA column gives the party undue prominence. All other parties with their own column either have Assembly representation, have consistently high polling and/or are otherwise nationally significant. AWA is none of those - should merge with others. 143.58.161.93 (talk) 13:49, 8 December 2024 (UTC)
- Same applies for UKIP actually. They were previously relevant but results and data have consistently shown that they’re not 143.58.161.93 (talk) 13:51, 8 December 2024 (UTC)
- AWA occasionally polls similar to Greens and Lib Dems though? Reform and Greens never had MSs either? What is "nationally significant" can be debatable, or personal opinion, so best just leave it to the poll results themselves and AWA does sometimes poll on par with "nationally significant" parties and outnumber the "other" parties collectively. Plus avoids adding in a footnote on the "other" column as it is quite a difference not to ignore. Plus many of these polls do include Abolish in their results separate from "other".
- UKIP have since dropped to 1% or not recorded on more recent polls, so were not carried forward on post-Senedd reform polls (no UKIP column on post-May 2024 polls), but had more significance in the older polls. But if Abolish isn't recorded by all polls going forward (it hasn't in the last two so far), then it could be cut if a dozen more polls don't record them anymore. DankJae 14:50, 8 December 2024 (UTC)
