[edit]Can someone help me out with references? I always make a balls-up of putting them in.
If I list the statement and then the reference, could someone help me out?
Those titles have been identified as being misleading as employees of the service are council workers rather than police officers.
This was identified in an report http://www.newham.gov.uk/NR/rdonlyres/CBA97462-455D-4031-AF69-1376FDF1B4AA/0/ImprovementPlanV9.pdf
that stated that "The Council should review the use of police titles/ranks for these more senior posts and consider titles which do not imply that the post holders are serving police officers but confirm their status as council officers".
Categories?
[edit]Since official reports have identified that a) those have no crime powers of arrest and b) are council employees and should not be called officers and the like. Is this actually part of the "UK Police Forces" category? --Charlesknight 14:25, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
use of MPS Stop and search forms
[edit]There is an article in private eye this week about the illegal use of MPS Stop and search forms by those council employees with accusation that the impression was given to the shop keeper that the person he was dealing with was an MPS officer - it is also made reference to in this letter here to the Newham Recorder. The original story in the Newham Recorder in on the 28th Novemeber but I am unable to find it on their site - anyone have more luck? --87.114.130.55 (talk) 16:39, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
