Coaches' Box
[edit]Just to clarify for would-be-editors, Michael Hagan is still the coach of the Newcastle Knights, hence I have listed him as 2001-current in the list of coaches, rather than 2001-2006. Of course, he will not be the coach in 2007, but until such time he is no longer coach of the Knights (is sacked, resigns, finishes his contract, dies, etc), then he is still the current coach of the Knights. --Cyclone James 14:20, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
Biggest winning margin
[edit]I have reverted the Knights' biggest win in the info box to 60-0, Knights vs Souths, August 8 1999. While the Knights' 70-32 defeat of Canberra in Round 2 2006 is the highest scoring match in NRL history (total 102 points), it is not the Knights' biggest win, as the winning margin is only 42 38 compared with 60 for the Knights vs Souths match. Absolutely, thank you. NS
Life after Andrew Johns?
[edit]- When in good form, ie when Andrew Johns is fit, Newcastle are seen to be the most profilic point scoring team in any League competition around the world. However, in recent times it has become clear that with the inevitable retirement of Andrew Johns in the next few years, Newcastle will struggle to remain a driving force in the NRL competition.
This seems POV, so I'm removing it. If anyone objects, leave a note on this talk page. --Lumina83 23:08, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
ex-players/current squad: new format
[edit]Folks, I have re-formatted both the current players and ex-players sections, with the vast majority of information from previous editions retained. Feel free to discuss omissions or suggestions.--Alexio 13:31, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
- Added "first grade captains" section, only including "official" captains appointed by the club. Temporary appointments (eg. McCormack, M.Johns, Peden, Simpson, Parsons) are not included.
Photos
[edit]Does anyone here go to games with a camera good enough to get player photos? Andrew Johns has a disputed fair use photo on it. While it's a good photo - it's copyrighted, and to me it's unbelievable that nobody has gotten a personal picture of their biggest player.Garrie 00:29, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
Protection
[edit]Could we get this page semi-protected? It seems a few people would like to bring attention to certain incidents regarding former Knights players. I think most of them are anonymous users. Again, if anyone knows how to protect the page, could we please do so? Journo:In:Making 10:11, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
Nationalities
[edit]hi,
I would think that Zeb Taia is a New Zealander as he has represented New Zealand and Isaac De Gois is portugese as he is the captain of their team.
mgt98 23:29, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
I guess you can say De Gois is portuguese, but Zeb is more Cook Islander, he's from there. Josh the newcastle fan (talk) 03:23, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
McManus is a Scottish name and Ciraldo is not very Italian more American though he wasn't born in the US so I can't argue that one but McManus has played for NSW and City which are Aussie only things so I guess that McManus could go either way. Oh and if you have read something on newcastleknights.com about Zeb Taia growing up and living in the Cook Islands then ok. Not sure when Portugal last played or when the wikipedia page was last updated but it says De Gois is their captain. I won't change anything but (except changing Taia back to a Cook Islander) where did you find that it said Byron Fruean is a Kiwi. mgt98 04:21, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
Well on McManus, he was born in Scotland so that's allright, but i don't know where you got Ciraldo - America from. On Bryron Fruean, i don't know if he's a kiwi or not, i just assumed because on his profile it said he supported the Warriors growing up, his hero was $BW and he talks about the Warriors alot, so i guess i'll change him to Australian. Have a look at his profile for yourself here. Josh the newcastle fan (talk) 05:26, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
Really we need some consistency on this section. For example,
- Zeb Taia is Australian born, has represented New Zealand and is of Cook Island descent. The result? The page claims he is a Cook Islander.
- James McManus is Scottish born, has played for NSW and City (and so is declared for Australia) and his article describes him as an "Scottish born Australian" The result? The page claims he is Scottish.
- Isaac De Gois is an Australian born player who has represented Portugal. The result? The page claims he is Portugese.
The page should deal with all of these players in a consistent fashion that is all sourced. Otherwise it just looks like a weak attempt to portray rugby league as a widespread international sport. Mattlore (talk) 06:14, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
Don't worry, i'll fix everything up into an appropriate fashion. Josh the newcastle fan (talk) 06:26, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
Pre-Tinkler financial problems
[edit]This matter could be dealt with as it shows the reason for the take-over. Also, impact on morale would be a consequential issue. Benyoch ...Don't panic! Don't panic!... (talk) 12:17, 22 July 2012 (UTC)
