Name
[edit]Is the name a reference to NewYorker? If so, why isn't the team known as the NewYorker Lions? Hack (talk) 10:03, 15 October 2013 (UTC)
- Good question! On the clubs official website, the name is spelled without the space between New and Yorker in the club logo but seems to always be spelt with the space in it in any apperances in the text. The GFL website also has it with the space in it, but also, in places, uses the official club name Braunschweig FFC. football-history.de just stuck with the old name, Braunschweig Lions. football-aktuell.de uses the version with the space between New and Yorker or, more commonly, just calls it Braunschweig. Logically, it should be NewYorker Luions, but that does not seem to be used much. No definate answer there! Calistemon (talk) 11:18, 15 October 2013 (UTC)
- I notice that the basketball team from Braunshweig also has a naming deal NewYorker but is known as "New Yorker Phantoms Braunschweig". Is it a language thing? Hack (talk) 13:22, 15 October 2013 (UTC)
- If anything, the company should probably be moved to New Yorker. On the company's website, the name is mostly written with a space as well. The German wikipedia article on the company is also named "New Yorker", FWIW. Alexpostfacto (talk) 16:28, 24 October 2013 (UTC)
