This article is garbage as it stands

and I only had the patience to rewrite the first paragraph of the Broome County section.

Bing Maps is nice and specific when it delineates certain neighborhoods but this is simply wrong. That does not make South Endwell a hamlet - I would know, I live here, and that would be considered splitting hairs by anyone in town. Don't come back at me shouting "VERIFY" and "SAYS WHO" - tell me why you should trust Bing Maps as such a serious source in the first place and give me the source of their data.

I have a job and too much crap on my plate to juggle to put aside time to pile up a mountain of counter-references but I will if I have to. The egregious sloppiness of the article, to me at least, suggests that the editor who wrote all this was simply trying to crapflood and win barnstars and win contests instead of writing quality material.

One note: after crossing Vestal Ave, the road does NOT "remain the same" - in fact, it fails to mention one of the most important historic landmarks of the Binghamton area, which it CROSSES UNDER.

The western E-J Workers Arch, at the original western boundary of the village of Endicott, prior to its unification with the village of Union to the west of it in 1920.

One note: The road underneath is now four (five?) lanes wide, and the arch itself was widened, with great care and at great expense, to accomodate this sometime within the last 15 to 20 years.

I don't have the patience for Wikipedia's formality and complexity, but I hope I've at least done something to improve this extremely mediocre contentmillesque article and inspired someone to further turn it into a valuable resource. Wikipedia these days is entirely too complex and overwrought to be anything other than a full-time hobby. Now I have a headache.

Daniel Case or Adam Moss, I would love to hear feedback on my edits, and I apologise for my frustration.

Anybody know if this road will be renumbered once 86 is finished and 17 truncated? Since it would be a long way from Route 17, that would make sense. Of course, everyone locally has known it as 17C since forever. Daniel Case 04:17, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Based on what happened to all of the spur routes of NY 18 when it was truncated from Salamanca to Lewiston, I think it's safe to say that NY 17C will be renumbered. What that number would be, I'm not sure. --TMF Let's Go Mets - Stats 21:41, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
