Removed link to Lefevre House Bed & Breakfast. I see no reason why one particular hotel, as nice as it may or may not be, needs a link on the town's page. If you have a reason why this place deserves special footing, please state it here.Caidh 19:31, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

History is Lacking

[edit]

The history section of this page is severely lacking, and virtually duplicates that of New Paltz (village), New York. I don't have sufficient info conveniently at hand to give town-specific history at the moment, but that would be more appropriate, such as: when the Town was founded (it's younger than the village), historical relations between town and village, that sort of thing. --otherlleft 05:27, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Demographics

[edit]

I don't know if there ever was a Demographics seciton, but seeing as how it wasn't part of the present article I created one. I don't know where to find all of the data, so there are some blanks that need to be filled in. --JBC3 (talk) 14:33, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The section was removed during an industrious day of vandalism here.--76.15.37.75 (talk) 14:59, 23 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Confused by sentence

[edit]

A sentence in the lead section has me confused. It says, "The Mohonk Preserve and Mohonk Mountain House resort hotel are located near the western part of New Paltz, and have New Paltz mailing addresses." Why wouldn't they have New Paltz mailing addresses, considering they are in New Paltz? Either this is significant but not made clear as to why, or it is irrelevant and should be modified. I don't have enough knowledge of the area to reconcile it. --JBC3 (talk) 05:29, 29 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"The Mohonk Preserve and Mohonk Mountain House resort hotel are located near the western part of New Paltz" that means not in the New Paltz. It is actually 1/2 hour drive and 10 miles away. I think the text is fine. --Jarekt (talk) 13:13, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
In addition, the city or town in a postal address refers to the location of the post office which serves that address and does not necessarily follow municipal boundary lines. Not sure what the significance is, however. 96.234.63.6 (talk) 15:30, 22 October 2019 (UTC)Kolef96.234.63.6 (talk) 15:30, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Inclusion of Mohonk Mountain House & Mohonk Preserve areas

[edit]

I'm reverting the removal of the Mohonk Mountain House & Mohonk Preserve info from here for a second time. I would prefer some discussion about this though before I (or others) act to add/remove this information again. I believe that including these two locations (the former of which has a New Paltz, NY mailing address, the latter has a portion of its land in New Paltz) is entirely appropriate. The Mountain House is a business, but is also on the US National Register of Historic Places, and is a US National Historic Landmark. The Preserve is a non-profit. Both of these are huge tourist destinations that bring many visitors to New Paltz. Their inclusion, in my opinion, is entirely appropriate. I would like to see some feedback from others though. Maybe it is just me that thinks so (though I doubt it). Caidh (talk) 18:08, 2 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Other info: Mailing address for Mohonk Preserve: Mohonk Preserve P.O. Box 715 New Paltz, N.Y. 12561. Mailing address for Mohonk Mountain House: 1000 Mountain Rest Road, New Paltz, NY 12561. The Mountain House site also says "Mohonk Mountain House offers timeless accommodations paired with exceptional service and comfortable amenities, all surrounded by stunning natural beauty. Use the contact information below to get in touch with our New Paltz, NY resort." The Mountain House is unequivicably associated with New Paltz. There is no valid reason to remove it.Caidh (talk) 20:54, 2 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
There has been no further discussion about this beyond my comments here from last year in the talk page here. If any further changes removing Mohonk or Minnewaska are desired, discuss here first. Caidh (talk) 01:49, 7 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Again - IP user(s) keep removing this. The official site (http://www.mohonk.com/) lists their address as 1000 Mountain Rest Road, New Paltz, NY 12561. Not Gardiner. If you want to change it, then find a reliable source that not only states it is in another area, but accounts for why the official site says they are in New Paltz. Rhett Miller

[edit]

Lead singer of the Old 97's, Rhett Miller, should be added to the notable people section. 64.90.75.56 (talk) 19:24, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
