NPOV

I question whether recent edits have followed WP:NPOV. Please source claims to "prestige" and "greatness". Thanks. Jpeob 00:39, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

Exactly. Even if you can find sources, do you think a statement such as "renowned" or "best in the world" should be part of an encyclopedic article? --Karljoos (talk) 13:37, 12 January 2009 (UTC)
I invite the editors who posted the claims of prestige and greatnest (even when well sourced), to visit the article about other conservatoires such as London's Royal Academy of Music, Juilliard School in NY and Conservatoire de Paris (note how, although also often refered as "prestigious" and "great", the articles don't make claims of greatness and prestige). Please keep in mind that this is an article and not a promotional prospectus/viewbook. Thanks. --Karljoos (talk) 12:34, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

Alumni and Faculty

Can somebody alphabetize the list of alumni and staff for this article? It's rather messy as is. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Augmented4ths (talkcontribs) 18:00, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

Move proposal

Proposal: move list of alumni and faculty to new categories, as with other universities and colleges with large lists of such. Badagnani 18:42, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

Where do you want to move it to? MarkBuckles (talk) 02:22, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
Create categories or new articles and get the long lists out of this article. Badagnani (talk) 09:05, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

Jordan Hall

This is not very encyclopedic:

Jordan Hall, NEC's 1,019 seat central performing space, and one of the world's greatest recital stages.

Please provide references or delete it. Saying that it is "the best" or "one of the best" is not something to be found in a good article --Karljoos (talk) 23:28, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

Valid points. I have given the entire section a revamping. TheFinalSay (talk) 23:23, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

List of faculty

It would be very useful if the list of the faculty members included their specialism. Cheers. --Karljoos (talk) 22:55, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

Composition Department

I think that it doesn't make sense having a separated article about the NEC Composition Department. I don't even think there should be an article about the department (the tone is closest to a prospectus/brochure/viewbook than to an article). I think it should be a section on this article or should be removed from Wikipedia. Thank you--Karljoos (talk) 16:35, 19 September 2009 (UTC)

There's a similar one at Eastman: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastman_School_of_Music_Composition_Department —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.232.153.85 (talk) 02:11, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
Good, so?--Karljoos (talk) 13:35, 25 May 2010 (UTC)

In case anybody is interested!

It seems like there has not been any work done on this article in a while. I have taken it upon myself to work on this article, primarily by adding content, as I am a current student and have access to quite a lot of research material. I am a first-time Wikipedian and if anybody reads my work and has any suggestions I would be more than happy to hear them! SnowmanRequiem (talk) 20:35, 22 January 2011 (UTC)

Early History

The early history section doesn't read very well and appears to be incomplete...

The article states that Tourjee attempted to start NEC in Boston in 1853. From all of the documentation I've read he started the Providence Conservatory of Music in Providence, in 1853. The school moved to Boston in 1867, and accepted as New England Conservatory in 1870.

Does anyone object to me reworking this section?

Two publications that support these dates:

  1. New England Conservatory of Music: Franklin Square, Boston, Mass
  2. Measure By Measure: A History Of The New England Conservatory from 1867

I'll start working on a new section for the early history and will update if i don't hear any objections... --Tcxspears (talk) 18:32, 9 April 2015 (UTC)
