Talk:New Economic Party

Redirection Discussion
[edit]This article was previously redirected to Yaron Zelekha in 2021, which was undone about a month ago. I'm not sure whether this article has any standalone notability (Zelekha is its sole notable member, and i believe, though i haven't checked, that most of its coverage was in 2021, which might mean its not sustained). I believe this should be discussed. I'll be pinging the person who undid the redirection and the person who initially redirected it to work towards a consensus. @Gidonb @David O. - This is a political party in Israel with significant coverage, appearing to be running already for the second time. The final word about that is very soon. As Totalstgamer implies, parties do have a leader. They also have an ideology, candidates (for the Knesset in Israel's national election), a name, letters (in Israel), campaigns, results, support, organization, a public image, apparentment agreements (sometimes), etc. Of course, it does injustice to these articles to boil all this down to only a leader out of the many dimensions we discuss. The article was unjustifiably redirected under this pretext. The decision to redirect the article just after the party announced a new run was particularly awkward. gidonb (talk) 21:55, 10 September 2022 (UTC)
- I will reiterate that the implication isnt that the party has a clear leader and is hence not notable. I think, for example, Yesh Atid is notable, even though its undisputed leader is Yair Lapid. that's mainly because its organization, public image, election results, party list so on so fourth are notable in their own right. They're consistently covered on their own. There's no aspect of the New Economic Party beyond Zelekha that's notable, which would imply all of the article's content is more notable to Zelekha than to the NEP itself, and this that the article should be redirected into Zelekha's article. When has Zelekha's list ever received substantial coverage? When did the party's internal organs, its agreements with other parties, or its ideology receive substantial coverage? Has the party itself even received substantial coverage since 2021? Totalstgamer (talk) 10:08, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
