Tanu (Haida village) redirect
[edit]I just created this because of a redirect from the original Tanu page to a character-section on a novel summary (Fablehaven). I decided to use "Haida village" in the disambig because I don't think "BC" or comma-British Columbia is appropriate for places with histories that predate teh colony, if they were never part of the colony ('the colony" here meaning all three colonies and the subsequent province). I made the redirect instead of a link directly to New Clew, where Tanu is thought to have been located, because the modern community of New Clew and the historical one of Tanu are not the same, and Tanu could/should have an article of its own, and there may be heaps of oral-tradition history to do with it.Skookum1 (talk) 03:13, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
- Further to previous, I redirect Tanu here because of Stanton's comments in BCGNIS; but I just found another BCGNIS listing (a new one, apparently as it wasn't there before, along with others in its area) for Tanu 52°45′56″N 131°36′59″W / 52.76556°N 131.61639°W "Tanu". BC Geographical Names.. Probably will re-jig the redirect, ned some more cites to expalain Stanton's comments, unless these are close to each other but I don't hink so.Skookum1 (talk) 15:16, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
Relocation to New Klue
[edit]Tanu and New Klue are not the same location. Tanu is located on the east shore of Tanu Island. New Klue (New Kloo, New Clue) is located on the north side of Louise island. New Klue was a resettlement community for smallpox survivors from Tanu.
Hello, just letting you know that a group of three students from the Haida Gwaii Higher Education Society Reconciliation program have received approval from the Council of the Haida Nation to post a Wikipedia page on Tanu. We can confirm that they are two separate villages and locations and therefore we will be removing the paragraph discussing the confusion over Tanu vs. New Clew. - @Jmvansch: If they are editing on behalf of the Haida Nation, then they need to be careful about conflicts of interest with their editing. Wikipedia policy prefers for editors to be independent of the subjects they are writing about. —C.Fred (talk) 19:32, 21 September 2017 (UTC)
Hi Fred, it was not edited on behalf of the Haida Nation however they gave permission to our independent group to publish a page on Tanu which follows Haida Nation protocol and Wikipedia policy. Jmvansch (talk) 17:51, 28 September 2017 (UTC)
