split into New Canaan Railroad
[edit]I think it would be helpful to have a separate New Canaan Railroad article that could include the material on both the original New Canaan Railroad as well as the later New Canann and Stamford Railroad. Both companies are 19th century companies of historical interest (the separate new article could also cover NYNH&H and Penn Central matters if necessary). As an example note that the Danbury Branch has separate articles for the historic railroads (e.g. Fairfield County Railroad and Danbury and Norwalk Railroad) and for the Danbury Branch itself. The latter article includes different Metro North style templates and links (that seem out of place in articles on historic railroads). I think the Danbury Branch model works well and would work very well for this line. Removing the redirects to this article would be necessary though. 67.86.73.252 (talk) 03:30, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
- At this time, based on the current article, oppose, as there's not enough info for a separate article here. The new article would just be a stub, and likely to get re-merged. I'd suggest building the section on the history up first, and then re-proposing the split if it gets too long. Honestly, for such a relatively short branch, even of the busy New Haven Line, I don't think that much will turn up.oknazevad (talk) 20:07, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
- This may be an old thread, but I have to agree with Oknazevad. In the meantime, I just found an old New Haven RR era New Canaan Branch schedule on Joseph Korman's site, that includes two other stations between Springdale and Tallmadge Hill named Springdale Cemetery and Woodway. I wouldn't waste any bandwidth making new articles on them, but they could be added to the station list nevertheless. ---------User:DanTD (talk) 15:35, 13 October 2014 (UTC)
