Discrimination sidebar
The article Racism provides the definition "discrimination and prejudice based on race". Racism is, therefore, one form of discrimination (and prejudice) and the sidebar is fully justified. I cordially invite @Malik Shabazz: to explain where he sees a difference and how the sidebar is not justified. Kleuske (talk) 11:44, 9 December 2016 (UTC)
- Discrimination is "treatment or consideration of, or making a distinction in favor of or against, a person or thing" etc. Can you cite an instance in which the NBPP has treated or considered people in any fashion? They talk a lot, but that's all they do -- talk. Discrimination is action, and it requires more than talk. — MShabazz Talk/Stalk 12:17, 9 December 2016 (UTC)
- It does not matter whether or not I can "cite instances". The fact that it's a racial hatred group is documented in the article. Hence the sidebar is appropriate. Kleuske (talk) 13:22, 9 December 2016 (UTC)
- So you say. It does not matter what words mean. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 03:13, 10 December 2016 (UTC)
- It does, actually. As a matter of fact, it seels like the words "editing against consensus" and "article ownership" start to take on some meaning. Ecen the words "editwaring" may come into play. 09:56, 10 December 2016 (UTC)
- Let me elucidate...
- sidebar added by Brough87 "This organisation, as stated in the article itself is considered a Hate Group on racial grounds by the Anti-Defamation League, the Southern Poverty Law Center, and the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. Sidebar added accordingly."
- removed by Malik Shabazz "How does their description as a hate group have to do with discrimination? (or, "I don't think that word means what you think it means")"
- Reinstated by Brough87
- removed, again by you "there's a racism template at the bottom of the page -- I hope you understand the difference between racism and discrimination, if not, please discuss"
- Reinstated by yours truly
- Removed, again, by Malik Shabazz "as explained on talk page, hate speech and discrimination are not the same thing"
- sidebar added by Brough87 "This organisation, as stated in the article itself is considered a Hate Group on racial grounds by the Anti-Defamation League, the Southern Poverty Law Center, and the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. Sidebar added accordingly."
- Now it may just be me being a nitpick, but I'm not satisfied with the explanation "So you say. It does not matter what words mean." That's not an explanation, I note. As soon as violence is incited against particular groups[1], that group isn't just racist, it's discriminatory, too. The two usually go hand in hand. Hence the sidebar is fully justified. Kleuske (talk) 10:14, 10 December 2016 (UTC)
- P.S. If you insist on the "racist, but not discriminatory" stance, I'll start quoting the NBPP program [2][3] which is *full* of discriminatory propositions, such as tax-exemptions for specific groups (i.e. Black people). Kleuske (talk) 10:36, 10 December 2016 (UTC)
