Merge?

[edit]

This article has some nice content, but it should probably be merged with neurodegenerative disorder, which covers the same ground. Looie496 (talk) 23:00, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Benign familial macrocephaly

[edit]

Since when a benign familial macrocephaly has something to do with neurodegeneration? 80.174.178.36 (talk) 00:23, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If you see something wrong in the article, please fix it. I don't think there are any experts watching this article currently. Looie496 (talk) 02:15, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Without comment to my expertise, I have it watchlisted, but I don't find BFM mentioned anywhere on the page. Am I missing anything? --Tryptofish (talk) 00:11, 12 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Excuse me -- for some reason when I wrote that I was only thinking about expertise with benign familial macrocephaly! Looie496 (talk) 00:22, 12 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No excuse needed! :-) One of the few diseases that I don't have! --Tryptofish (talk) 00:24, 12 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That image should really be replaced.24.148.9.253 (talk) 02:55, 4 March 2016 (UTC) MR[reply]

It is an old thread, but it is worth pointing out that I have replaced the file with File:Alzheimer's disease brain comparison.jpg, since it is the most common of the diseases. The old macrocephaly GIF always seemed out of place to me. You are welcome. FreeMediaKid$ 22:47, 21 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Merger proposal

[edit]

The Degenerative disease page as it stands is redundant and inaccurate. I suggest merging it into this page. Thoughts? Neurotip (talk) 09:37, 2 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You confuse degenerative with neurodegenerative (as does the first sentence of the article so i'll fix that!): the degenerative disease page list includes neurodegenerative diseases but has a whole lot of others.Richwil (talk) 14:05, 3 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Wikipedia Users, I suggest the addition of the following sentence to the Alzheimer's disease section of this neurodegeneration page.

"Dysregulation of the dopaminergic system is associated with Alzheimer's disease." PMID=19047053

There has been many studies on the association of the dopaminergic system with neurodegenrative disease specially Alzheimer's disease. I think this has not been thoroughly discussed in this page. It would be informative to mention the association of dopaminergic system with neurodegeration in the brain.

Orphaned references in Neurodegeneration

[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Neurodegeneration's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Chronic traumatic encephalopathy

[edit]

I noticed that this article does not mention chronic traumatic encephalopathy. Would it be redundant to include it in this article's list of specific disorders? Jarble (talk) 05:25, 29 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Planned Edits/Additions

[edit]

I intend on adding a section on Multiple Sclerosis right above the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, as it has a higher incidence rate than ALS. Wellschitt (talk) 17:01, 30 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Planned Edits

[edit]

I plan on editing and adding to the Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease, Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and Batten disease sections.Quirkybooknerd (talk) 17:04, 30 November 2020 (UT)

NeurodegenerationNeurodegenerative disease – Better target name, more usual search term; page describes a number of neurodegenerative diseases. Such a merge was suggested on talk page long ago and seems to have become changed to the same target name following a neurodegenerative disorder redirect to neurodegenerative disease that was later redirected back to target page. Iztwoz (talk) 17:45, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Support. A sensible suggestion and additionally the main focus of this is on the disease state rather than the pathophysiology as such. Tom (LT) (talk) 01:06, 16 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
