Neural network (machine learning) → Artificial neural network – This is a procedural nomination following Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2024 March 1#Category:Artificial neural networks. For the closer: I have no opinion on whether this move should actually happen or not. Pinging participants at the CfD (@Aidan721, Glenn, and Justinkunimune) and at the discussion at Talk:Neural network (biology)#Merge? (again) which resulted in the rename (@Toomuchcuriosity, Justinkunimune, Tryptofish, and SamuelRiv). HouseBlaster (talk · he/him) 23:31, 8 March 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose move. And that's a strong oppose. I appreciate that this is purely a procedural nomination, and that's fine. But please see the very careful discussion among several editors at Talk:Neural network (biology)#Merge? (again), where a great deal of thought and work went into the current pagenames. The proposed move here would break that, and there are good reasons to think that most readers seeking this page will not start out by typing "artificial" in the search box. I can understand the reasoning behind normalizing the names of pages with the (no consensus) name of the category, but the category also contains quite a few other pages, so there is no need to make this pagename and the category name the same. If the editors at the CfD want the names to be the same, that can determine the category name (although I would urge reopening the discussion in that case), but CfD editors have no procedural authority to rename this page. --Tryptofish (talk) 23:49, 8 March 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose move. My main argument is found discussion mentioned by Tryptofish. It boils down to it "neural network" being the WP:COMMONNAME of ANNs and that it is important to make it easy for users to find this article in the search box. If anything, "Artificial neural network" feels to me like an unnatural disambiguation. too_much curiosity (talk) 01:15, 10 March 2024 (UTC)
