Indicator?
[edit]The text reads:
Until 1989 the Neubrandenburg Museum, the Historice District Museum (Historisches Bezirksmuseum) acted as an indicator for other museums in the district of Neubrandenburg
I don't know what this means. Is 'indicator' a mis-translation? Leschnei (talk) 02:25, 23 July 2016 (UTC)
- It's one common translation of Leitfunktion nehmen, but I agree doesn't sound right in this context. It's not totally clear was is meant by the original text. Leitfunktion can mean "leading role", "leadership function", "guiding role". So was the museum just setting the trend that others followed or did it have a formal managerial role over the others or something in between? I've changed it to "took on leading roles" which is probably more accurate than 'indicator', but stills allows a bit of leeway in interpretation as I suspect the German article does. --Bermicourt (talk) 07:52, 23 July 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks, Bermicourt - that's much better. Leschnei (talk) 13:17, 23 July 2016 (UTC)
