Sorry but I removed the two paragraphs that seemed to highlight (since they were in the first paragraph) some relatively suspect claims for NGF:

1) That NGF in the saliva helps in wound healing. First of all, human saliva does not have NGF. Secondly, skin does not have TrkA receptors.

2) That NGF is involved in romantic feelings.

Of all the many validated roles for this neurotrophic factor, it seems highlighting these two seems to trivialize it, and make the whole page seem somewhat unscientific. Gacggt 21:55, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

An Introduction Would Be Nice

The only people who will understand this article are people who already know. This is supposed to be an encyclopedia, not a dictionary. Please begin with an introduction, in which, telling everyone the ultimate function and purpose of NGF. Then you may impress us all with your obviously superior knowledge on the matter. (If your having trouble, please go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Encyclopedia)

Okay... I added more of an introduction... let me know if you think it is now more understandable. Gacggt 15:47, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
