[edit]I don´t know what Wikipedia policy is (and I am not going to second-guess the gatekeepers who hold sway over this Internet site) but the Imperial units used in this article are the ones which should be in parentheses -- not the Metric ones (and anyone who would dispute this would be guilty of, uh, parochialism).

I'm going to dispute this even though I'm not guilty of parochialism. Agreed that metric units are preferred. The problem is that the original source for this information gives numbers in non-standard units. So the article is quoting the original figure, while also converting it to standard units so the reader will know what the actual depth is. Rees11 (talk) 13:23, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
If this thing is a submarine it would be useful to know that. If not, it would be interesting to know why not. Rees11 (talk) 13:24, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
this is confusing
[edit]"The optic fiber tether has the approximate diameter of a human hair, and can bear only 4 kilograms (8.8 pounds)." What does it mean that it can 'bear 4 kg'? A sow pig can bear 8-16 piglets in a litter, but I don't think that is what is meant here. This needs to be reworded to say more clearly whatever it's supposed to mean. Deepest diving vehicle?
[edit]So, is it the deepest diving vehicle? Or the second deepest? This article currently claims both. Kunstcleaver (talk) 02:18, 4 December 2011 (UTC)
